How many times can you name when Pikachu showed his love of ketchup?

Really, I mean it. I haven't seen an episode in a while when Pikachu showed it's love of ketchup, so I wonder when he showed his love of ketchup. I got some.

That episode when those 2 unofficial gyms in Kanto, Pikachu had a ketchup bottle with him. It broke and Pikachu looked sad.

And in one of the AG episodes, Pikachu had a ketchup bottle.

Any other episodes can you name that shows Pikachu's love of ketchup?

The only one I remembered was the unofficial gym one (Scyther and electabuzz). I'll have to take your word for the other one.

The second AG episode had Pikachu and a ketchup bottle - that's the only one besides the Dark City episode that I can name with certainty.

I believe the two mentioned are the only episodes that show this. People just make a bigger deal out of this ketchup obsession than there really is.

Pikachu liking ketchup is the same as Misty's mallet. The fandom for some reason made it seem like we constantly saw these things as if they were running gags of the characters.

Meanwhile Pikachu liking ketchup was only seen in 2 episodes, and Misty hitting people with mallets happened in no more than 3-4 episodes out of her 275 episode run. How sad that things get exaggerated.

"Showdown in Dark City" and "A Ruin with a View" are the only episodes so far to explicitly show Pikachu with a ketchup battle, both of which aired well over 9 years ago.

Or its like Ashachu, even though Ash was only in that form for about 2 minutes. I think fans of Pikachu's 'fondness' of ketchup are just wishing that it was used in more than 2 episodes.

I really don't think anyone's overexaggerating the amount of times where Pikachu was shown displaying a liking towards ketchup. We clearly see that it was only displayed like, two times. I think it's possibly a desire from people in the fandom to give Pikachu more traits that separate himself from Ash's character. In Kanto, it was imo a lot more noticeable that Pikachu had his own distinct personality apart from Ash's. Although as the series has progressed, it seems like Pikachu has lost those slight traces of an original identity and has just become an extension of Ash's personality. Perhaps this is explained when Prof. Oak explained that pokemon tend to take on the characteristics of the trainers who capture them, but only if they are constantly with the trainer.

Lol I'm just rambling again, IDK...To me, Pikachu liking ketchup being expressed those two times was really REALLY minor, and to many insignificant, but stands out to myself and others as indicators that Pikachu is his own character, with his own unique quirks, inerests, and personality traits that make him stand on his own without being automatically linked to Ash. But that's just my spin on it.

Ay. Only 2 episodes. Oh. So, uh, don't mind about this thread. Us people are making a big deal about this.

You guys can continue to discuss Pikachu's love of ketchup in general, and the reasons why such a trait exists and/or is overrated/underrated by fans if you like.

Considering it went nearly 250+ episodes between showing this, (from that Scyther/Electabuzz ep all the way till AG2), I somehow doubt it.

A lot of stuff from the first season gets exaggerated, if only because it was the most rewatched saga of the show originally when the series didn't have a lot of episodes and the fandom had nothing to discuss. A lot of bullshit like Ash's father, Misty's mallet, Duplica, and other nonsense from the first season gets exaggerated as if they were big events or something when they weren't.

Now with over 700+ eps of the anime, the fandom doesn't need to focus on minor obscure details from the first season like they used to.

Yes, I can only think of those two times, myself.
I reckon it's adored as, well, Pikachu gives the greatest signs of affection towards an inanimate Object, of all things. People use his love of Ketchup humorously.
Also, that his adoration returns again in AG? That obviously gave fuel to the fire, that they displayed it once more.

However, it is a fandom hyperbole.

Kinda miss that little quirk of his, especially since ketchup is my favorite condiment as well, as the only one I liked. ^_^;;
