Why does the release of HG/SS mean that users need to be banned from editing? I can see that lots of people would want to edit to add new information about the games, which could cause the servers to crash, but I never recall anything like this happening when Diamond and Pearl were released, and they introduced 107 brand-new Pokemon. Wouldn't it be better to allow editing but protect all the Johto-related pages?

Does anyone know roughly when editing will be allowed again? A few days? Weeks? Months? Just so that I don't have to keep checking Bulbapedia every day to see if I can edit yet. Thankyou.

The staff will most likely let you know. And it is a big deal since Bulbapedia is getting somewhere of 20 times more traffic. And if everyone else can be patient so can you

We don't need this thread. I'll say it one last time that the pedia is under immense traffic from just hits alone, and editing can put that through the roof. We don't want the server to explode any more than it needs to, so when the initial hype has cooled down, the database will be unlocked. When that will be depends on how often people visit the site, naturally. Again, if we've missed anything let us know so we can continue to have the best Pokémon encyclopedia of all time. I'm sure we can all agree that having a read-only site is better than no site at all.
