How much of a reset will Ash get in Kalos?

None like in johto?
Plot hax in Hoenn?
A seemingly big reset that is later revealed to not be much at all in DP?
total reset like in BW?

Or none of the above? What are your thoughts?

At the very least I don't want Ash to forget how to catch Pokémon again and to forget the Pokémon he has already seen before. Hopefully something like "Oh I don't know all these Pokeymanz" thing only.

He'll leave his Pokémon behind and Pikachu may or may not get plot haxed.

The only reason Unova reset Ash is because it was going for a Kanto feel and they wanted to make the series somewhat fresher after a lot of things having never changed since the start like the art style, Brock, Team Rocket, etc.

Kalos doesn't appear to be doing anything of the sort - it's another continuation of Ash's adventures.

I'm hoping Ash doesn't get any stupider, preferably becoming smarter. And I'd like for Pikachu not to lose his electric powers again. I honestly prefer him one-shoting everything.

The only thing that resets is Pikachu, in every region, so nothing will reset for him, as for Pikachu something somehow will reset the poor thing.

Hard to say, but if I had to judge just from the new artwork, I think Ash might actually become more serious. While his other artwork from other sagas make him look rather weird (IDK, maybe it's just me, his whole pose and facial expressions), this artwork makes him look ready to go, a pretty confident look if you ask me. So ultimately I think we might see a big reset of Ash again compared to BW (in a positive way this time of course).

I'm hoping for an AG/Johto type and Ash just gets more mature and has a mentor type relationship with the new girl like what happened with AG and D/P series, that always helps ^

Probily a reset to the point where he Will "Dex" Pikachu. and Poor Pika will go from lvl. 85 since he didnt make back to his original level 8,438,899 back down to a whopping lvl. 5.

Hopefully none like in Johto, but knowing the anime, they will probably reset him Hoenn/Sinnoh style and have his memories erased off-screen, it's like he acts like the rules in Region A are different than in Region B, when they are exactly the same.

Hopefully it will be like AG and DP where Ash gives a "fresh start" vibe without giving us the impression that his skills have downgraded like in BW. Just give him an experienced main rival (or none at all) and lose to a competent opponent in the Kalos League this time and I'm good.

I'm hoping that it will be around the AG and DP level where, despite the fresh start for his team, Ash's skills are still pretty good, or at least not so downgraded where he loses to a rookie trainer and makes horrible mistakes that not even Kanto Ash would do.

Seeing how they tried to "reset" the characters in BW and how it ended so wrong (explaining why we've had so many flashbacks after Season 2 and how Team Rocket stoped being serious), I don't think they are willing to do it again. As people tend to see the first episodes of BW to be a callback to the original series, I'm expecting to see something similar to the AG start this time, for good. The fact that he doesn't look so childish in his artwork helps me to believe that

Thanks for making me laugh. That was funny.

And I hope they don't reset him to a lower version than what he was on BW. I hope he at least learns something.

If he has to be reset... Then hopefully, he only gets reset just enough not to forget how to capture a pokemon and can still win against a fresh new trainer.

Due to his clothes being rather reminiscent of Hoenn, his old team might be brought back to manifest off the audience's nostalgia. Also he better not lose his first battle. For example, Unova - Has a badass Pikachu at level 100, I guess. He loses to a level 5 Snivy.

Hopefully not any stupid loss. But then people need to think about that he gets new rookie pokemon so he will lose at the start.

I hope there is no reset in the next region. He should bring along a pokemon he catches in "Da" so that Pikachu could get kidnapped or something that way Pikachu doesn't have to lose any energy or whatever.

I vote he takes a blimp this time. JK.

I liked the plane boat thing he took to Unova, though.

Seriously, though, I have the strangest feeling the transition from BW to XY will be like that of Kanto to Johto.

Think about it...I mean Da! is essentially the equivalent of the Unova Saga's Orange Islands. Or is it just me?

So, I doubt there will be a reset...hopefully.

If there is one:

a) Ash will meet rival
b) Rival will be jerk
c) He will lose to Lvl. 5 rivals x Pokémon

I think we can all be sure that from Hoenn onwards, a new generation = a new series. I'll bet the only reason Johto wasn't the start a new series was because it was the first time the franchise had a new generation, and OLM didn't think about going such a route until later. Not to mention that an official series title and Ash's getting a new outfit would already confirm that it will be a new series.

One could say the same thing about AG's Battle Frontier saga.

Yeah, I'm sure we all do. Unless you mean that in a way that Ash brings more than just Pikachu with him to Kalos, then I see no chance of that.

Putting aside the fact that levels don't technically exist in the anime (at least not in that sense), that last part would only be the case if his (possible) new rival were actually a newbie like Trip.
