How much of Ash's series (1,200+ episodes and 23 movies) have you actually seen/watched?

Ash's tenure as a main character, as we know, was LONG. Ash's series went from 1997-2023, over 25 years. It accumulated somewhere over 1,200+ episodes, 23 movies, and about 40ish specials that were associated with Ash's friends or in continuity. I'm curious how much of this you guys have seen.

I've seen all of Kanto/Johto, AG/DP, etc growing up as a kid/teen/early 20's. I originally took a break from the show early in BW when the Team Plasma eps were skipped, and only watched a few of the important eps from there. Even when XY was airing I didn't watch most of it at first, but around the time the Kalos league started in 2016 I went back and marathoned it all. Same for SM really, I waited till the tail-end of it and then marathoned it all. Then saw all of JN, etc. I've also seen all 23 movies at least once, and most of the specials like Mewtwo Returns, Raikou, all of Chronicles, the other specials, Arceus Chronicles, etc.

I also did a huge marathon rewatch at the end of 2023, where I went through every series and it took me over 2+ years to watch everything. But I can now say, with certainty, I've seen probably 95-99% of Ash's Pokemon anime. Probably the only things I missed are those rare Planetarium specials or weird 5 minute shorts that are hard to find? But eh those don't matter.

Like a dozen episodes at the most, scattered about with no particular order and usually with the sound off

I fell out of touch with the anime after the original series in the early 2000s, mainly because it wasn’t broadcast where I lived and I didn’t speak English at the time. Still, I kept up by checking episode pictures on Serebii every week during the DP series. I eventually returned to the anime in late 2010 with the start of the BW series, and over time I went back and watched all the previous series, including every special and movie by their Japanese release order. (I took this page for reference during that time)

So today I've watched all the episodes, movies and available specials (that weren't exclusive to Japanese theaters without a release anywhere else, which we have a few).

I have seen at least one episode of the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, & Kalos sagas. Of them, I'm pretty sure I have seen all the episodes of the first four sagas. Unova was when I started losing interest in the show. I saw one episode of Alola (the first one) and have not seen any since. I have not watched any of the journeys or Horizons episodes.

Kanto - Few episodes here and there but not an era I'm interested in.

Johto - Same goes for Johto.

Advanced - Where it all started for me or at least with Battle Frontier. Didn't see the other seasons until much later.

D&P - The main series I remember during my kid/school days waking up to see every episode either on school mornings or weekends.

B&W - Where I dropped off for a while cause I really wasn't liking where the series was going. Saw a few eps here and there but didn't watch it fully on TV.

XY - Back to the Diamond & Pearl days of seeing nearly every episode of the show. Left school for good around XYZ.

Sun & Moon - Same thing for this era and every episode watched.

Journeys - Originally was the same but started growing dissatisfied as it went on and mostly stopped after Round 3 of Ash vs Bea, really only coming back around the point where Serena came back and the Alola revisit/Paul's return and the Masters Eight happened.

Horizons - Currently still watching the series both dub and sub. Dub wise I am now up to the episode where Friede visits the Exceed company.

I have seen every episode since BW001 I believe. Kanto/Johto/Hoenn/Sinnoh I have seen most episodes but missed a few here and there.

I've seen every movie and I believe I have watched the majority of the specials. Pikachu shorts I have all seen (aside from a couple of Japanese-exclusive ones which are hard to find) since I did a binge of those a few years back, which was pretty fun.

I watched pretty much all of the original anime series on TV as a kid, though we lost cable sometime during Orange Islands so there’s patches of that I think I’ve yet to see even to this day. Same with Johto, my family didn’t have cable for a significant portion, so I know I’ve only seen maybe half of it.

I watched like, maybe a fourth of Advanced Generation? Slightly less of Diamond and Pearl? And like a total of six or seven episodes of BW.

I’ve seen all of Sun and Moon season 1, like half of season 2, a couple scattered episodes of Journeys, and every single movie multiple times over LOL.

I have NOT seen the following:
  • The Girafarig filler from Season 3.
  • 30ish episodes from Season 4.
  • 15ish episodes from Season 7.
  • Every Pikachu short except for the first 3 and those included in Chronicles.
  • Japanese attractions-exclusives like 3D Adventure and Planetarium.
  • Mystery Dungeon Time/Darkness & Sky specials.
  • Ranger: Guardian Signs specials.
  • Mega Evolution Act I.
  • Hoopa special
So around 96% of all episodes.

I’ve seen the vast majority of episodes, but during early AG, there was a consistent period of times where my child self would not wake up early enough t catch an episode.

I’ve watched every Kanto, every OI, every BW, and every SM episode though. Maybe DP too., but I don’t remember all that well.

The tone shift in Sun & Moon didn't click with me.

I haven't watched Chronicles and the 'banned' episodes (or excluding Ash, newer side stuff like the Mystery Dungeon specials)

Every episode. Every Special. Like 2 movies XD. Heres the takeaway.

Sun & Moon is underrated
X & Y is overrated
Black and White does indeed suck but I feel people bash it more than it deserves.

(And before you ask no, I don't miss him, HZ FOR LIFE!!!)

As a huge fan of the Pokemon anime period, I've pretty much seen it all. (Nearly) every episode, every special, every movie, etc. Hell, most of them I've seen multiple times.

The only movie I've missed is The Power of Us (though I've seen bits and pieces of it, enough to get a good feel for the plot,) and the only episodes I've missed were a few from Sun and Moon and Journeys that were just so bad I outright refused to watch 'em. (Like the Slowpoke and Marshtomp episodes. :tentacruel:)

Uhhhh... honestly, I don't quite remember? lmao

As much as I think the ashime is enjoyable enough, it's a very in-one-ear-out-the-other show for me. From what I remember, though:

-I watched all of Indigo League (as in, the season officially called Indigo League), but didn't get through all of Kanto.
-Barely watched Johto at all.
-I watched some of Hoenn as a kid, but hardly at all since.
-I watched most of Sinnoh (at least until the infamous badge drought). I also watched its league arc (Ash VS Paul is one of the best fights in the franchise).
-I mostly watched the latter half of Unova, but even then, I didn't watch much. Its reputation precedes it.
-I marathoned all of XY a few years ago. I've also been watching that gen since XY&Z was new. It's undoubtedly my favorite Ashime gen.
-I saw nearly all of SM. I used to keep up with it religiously when it was new, and enjoyed it a lot, but I stopped keeping up along the way. I've since gone back and watched all of the notable episodes from the latter half (the Mallow's Mom one, the Gladion and Kukui battles, etc.). While on that topic, the Kukui fight is my choice for the best episodes in the Ashime. They make me emotional every time.
-Journeys... I interact with Journeys in the way I feel like it was meant to; log onto streaming services, watch the episode(s) that seem interesting to you, and then move on. Due to that, I only saw bits and pieces from all over the show, like the Mohn episode, the Masters Eight, and the final Ashime episode.

As for the movies... I watched 1, 3, the Sinnoh ones, the Keldeo one, the Hoopa one, and all of the post-XY ones. My favorite is Power of Us, followed by Secrets of the Jungle.
