How old is Ash Really?

He is 10 and he will always be, unless the writers follow Dragon Ball's example and create a new generation with grown-up characters.
But counting the seasons, he is 14 or 15.

Well when I first started watching the show when I was 8, he was 10. So, to me, he is 19-two years older than me.

But yeah, he doesn't age on the show. Unless, he's been like, growth stunted.

There is no official age for Ash. Pokemon is in a sort of floating timeline for the main characters where they just don't age. If the characters got older then the writers couldn't milk the franchise for years to come. So Ash will probably forever be 10 years old.

I personally disregard all of that crap about him still being 10, regardless of whether or not it's official.

The way I see it, it takes Ash about a year to collect all of each region's badges. So with Kanto, Johto and Hoen, that's three years. Then you add on around three months for the time between the time he got his Earth Badge and the start of the Indigo Conference, plus around six months each for the Orange Islands and Battle Frontier, and it all comes out to approximately four, maybe five years. (Since this is all estimation.)

So in my opinion, Ash is somewhere between the ages of 14 and 15.

That's why I said he could be 14 - 15 in reality. Also, since there was always "3 months left" for each league, then that's another six months to your count, so it's more likely he is 15 and not 14.

Pokemon takes place floating timeline, similar to The Simpsons. He has not aged at all, and remains ten. If you refuse to believe in the floating timeline, then he is as old as you want him to be; count how long you think it would take to complete each League/challenge to decide how old you think he really is.

^Doesn't piecing together every little bit of evidence to point toward the age of the characters give you a headache?

Personally, I feel it's more fun to believe that Ash (or any of the characters in the anime) have aged. I dislike the floating timeline and the "characters don't age" thing, because this makes the show seem less realistic.

So for me, I'd like to believe that since time is passing, Ash is indeed aging and he's been aging since the start of the show. That makes a lot more sense to me than the foating timeline theory.

Anyway, in my opinion, I think Ash would have to be either 15 (at least) or 16 (at the most), by this point in time.

Will still Dawn nd ash hav huge time gap only misty suitable 4 ash !!! Dawn is abit young

Realistic is wot keep pkmon alive unlike Simpsons u noe its cartoon created 4 laffs cant feel emotions from the character i like realistic anime like pkmon, naruto.blood plus where character learn and grew as the anime progress

We all know that thanks to Dialga and his time paradox nobody ages.

I doubt that. as far as I know it is not uncommon for 19 year olds to date people in their 30's... So in theory she and Ash could be involved. as the age differance is only 3-5 years depending on what you believe. Personally I think each season spans about 4 months so 3 seasons equal 1 year so that would make Satoshi nearly 14. (again it depends on what you want to believe)

I think the characters DO age, or at least the main ones do. They look a bit older now than they did at the beginning of the series, and they DEFINITELY act older and more mature.

In the Earth Badge episode, Ash mentions that it's been a whole year since he was last in Viridian City. The actual league competition takes place about 2 or 3 months after that (I think the episode this was mentioned in was "The Po-Ke Corral"). So each 8-badge league would take about a year and three months to complete, including the tournament. The Orange Islands would probably take about 7 months, and the Battle Frontier about 10 months.

Ash is ten when he starts his journey. Going by the assumption that each full league is about a year and a quarter, he's just over 11 when he finishes the Indigo League, almost 12 after finishing the Orange Islands, 13 after completing the Johto League, a little over 14 after the Hoenn League, 15 after completing the Battle Frontier, and about 15-and-a-half right now, halfway through the Sinnoh league.

Here's the ages I think all the main characters are at right now, going by the figuring above.

Ash- 15 and a half.

Misty- about 17. I figure she was about 12 when Ash first met her.

Brock- about 20. I figure he was about 15 when he joined Ash's group.

Jessie and James- 22 or 23. There was one episode in the first season where Jessie said she was 17, which sounds about right to me, and James seems to be about the same age as Jessie.

May- A little over 12. She was ten at the start of AG, and was with Ash through one full 8-badge league and then the Battle Frontier.

Max- 8 or 9. I figure he was somewhere around 6 or 7 when he joined the group.

Dawn- 10.

^ There's no way Misty is 17. :p

She was confirmed to be 10 in the Japanese version when the show started, so she's the same age as Ash.

Personally I put Ash at 12/13 years old, not too much older than Dawn is now. But again, that's just how I put it.
