How Old Is Ash's Mom?

On bulbapedia it says that in a novel it said she was 29 witch is strange becasuse that means she had Ash when she was 19.

How is 19 strange? One of my aunts had her son at 19 with no problems.

You guys want an age that'll mess you up? 4th movie puts Oak at just over 50, which means he was a grandfather around 40.

Anyway, Delia's hard to guess since they seem to change her age around every now and then. In the first eps she looked around 35 or so, but now she looks about ten years under that.

That always makes me wonder...that means that like, both he and his son, couldn't have been a father much past 20...(I always thought Oak was in his sixties at least.) It's a moot point, though, since backstory of Kanto characters seems to be pretty much wrapped up by now, aside from Ash.

I personally think Delia's under 30. She seems too youthful to be much older...

I think she's around 29, and had Ash around 19.

And what novel was Bulbapedia talking about?

I don't get why Ash's mother has to be young... I know plenty of 30-50 year olds who behave "young" or at least your definition.

Unless you think that hitting 30 means that your hair will turn grey and you become as wrinkly as a prune.

Ageists.

if ash is 19, why does he act like a 10 year old so much, and how old is that mini skirt girl...ummm Dawn! how old is she

Ash's 10, Dawn's 10, May's 10, Misty's 10.

Ash's mom is probably around 30 to 35.

Its because she's too hot to be someone's mother.......according to tvtropes.

Delia does look like she's in her late 20's or early 30's.

Why do people say she looks 18? She definitely looks like she's nearing 30.

Well she looks younger than me...but then all indication of age based on looks went out the window when Looker opened his big yap about Cyrus (who is also younger than me. I laughed SO HARD).

And pixies and fairies, who's to say that Oak's Gary's paternal grandfather? It's never been said after all, and the guy could have taken the surname (I'm not sure if that's done in Japan, but we're also dealing with a series where hardly anyone HAS surnames so I'd imagine the rules are different there).

Um guys? Go look up any anime. Nine times out of ten, the mother is going to look WAY younger than she probably should. It's just another matter of fanservice...

And what novel was Bulbapedia talking about?
I can't remember what it's actually called, but years ago there was a novel released that was suppose to be the "backstory" to pokemon. It explained what Hanako did before and after she had Satoshi, what happened to Satoshi's father, etc. If I remember correctly, it was one of those "not actually canon, but could be considered canon" deals. The guy who wrote it was actually the chief writer of the original series, so he definitely had a lot of pull, but I don't believe the story was ever made official.

Speaking of which, wasn't there a bulbagarden project to translate said novel? Whatever happened to that? I remember someone posting a few chapters and then just stopping. Considering how interesting most people find it (heck, most people seem to find it better than the current anime), I find it strange how nobody ever really did anything with it...

That's another thing I thought was kinda weird. Why does it seem like no one in the Pokemon world, excepting the professors (and Gary and a few others as well) have last names? I mean, I know there are dub names, but in the original Japanese, there's nothing. I guess in the Pokemon world, not having last names is typical, I'm just not used to it.

I had to go to Bulbapedia when I read this. Steely haired Cyrus is 27? Whoa... I was guessing more like 35-40. Yikes. Anyway, I think Delia maybe about 30 or 27. But then again, look how off I was on Cyrus.

On another note I'm now very interested in the novel Yotsuba mentioned. Someone should translate it.
