How should Hikari/Dawn leave when her time comes?

Hmm... she could go the may way and do contests in other regions. I don't really see any other method.

She will be kidnapped and taken to Mexico, where she will be forced to sell her body and raise a family of 12.

I see you're in a good mood and you're bursting with energy today.

Well, it's more like everyday, but that's besides the point!

Alright, serious answer.

Yes, it's going to happen. Dawn will leave. But I'd rather not think about it at the moment. Not because I get emotional or anything sappy, but because a ton of stuff can happen between now and that point in time. Literally just a whole bunch of character development and new Pokemon and so on and so forth.

So really, I don't really have any idea how it'll happen, because there's no telling exactly what'll be the catalyst that has her get-up and go back home (which is even a big assumption on my part, because instead of going home, she may decide to go to another region ala May with all of her friends). Okay, sure, we know that at the heart of it all the reason she'll leave is because of the new games eventually coming out. But they (they being the creative heads at the anime) can decide whatever they want.

No doubt her departure will be touching and heart-warming. Right now though, how it'll play out is mine and anyone's guess.

Maybe she just decides that she's strong enough to go to other regions, but doesn't want to keep following Ash around because she'll be OK on her own, and so will he (well with Brock anyway).

No, I think she should use Togekiss rather than her legs.

That'd be pretty cool to see. Have her saying good-bye to Ash and Brock, than fly on the back of her Togekiss all happy, waving good-bye with her Pipulp on Togekiss head waving bye as well. I could see this happing :O
I could also see them pulling a May, having her leave with her rivals, Zoey or Kenny. Either way, yah we all know this is gonna happen in the end. Whoever thinks other wise, doesn't know Pokemon very well. Every generation girl always leaves, it will continue, which is why I never really try to get too attached to them LOL. The only female main character I like and follow is Jessie.

Well Pipulp has an opinion, just like I have my own. Hopefully we can just respect each others opinions on this.

Piplup wouldn't agree with that.

XD
And here I start...

we all know this is gonna happen in the end. Whoever thinks other wise, doesn't know Pokemon very well. Every generation girl always leaves, it will continue,

We can't be 100% sure of anything until it happens
A lot of people used to say things like that which eventually were proven wrong, some of which it took 10 years to prove wrong but it happened eventually:
- "a main character will never catch an electric type" but Dawn did catch Pachi
- "Ash will never trade a Pokémon" but Ash did trade Aipom
- "Ash would never evolve a Poké by the use of an item" but Ash did evolve Gligar with the Sharp Fang (or whatever that thing is called, I'm not sure)
- "Ash will never leave a Pokémon again" but he did leave Gliscor
- "Jessie will never a win a Contest" but not only she won a Contest, it looks like she'll even make it to the GF
As you can see, a lot of people believed such things won't happen but were proved wrong

Dawn is an equal heroine to Ash (though I admit they still clearly favor Ash over her as seen in the OPs and movies 11-12... but most of the time they get more or less equal focus in the show)
May was the first try to make an equal heroine but they had a few mistakes with her that were eventually corrected with Dawn
Even if you hate these "corrections", these things (like Pip being her version of Pika, the fact she gets more focus than May had, etc) make her seem even closer to Ash's role on the show than May was
They also clearly want the heroine to be girly and Dawn did that much better than May... and I can't see how they can make even more girly girl
They finally got that right, why throw her away?

Dawn is going to be here for much longer than May was... and together with her is Piplup which is popular with Japanese kids and a lot of young viewers who started to watch the show from DP are used to Ash/Dawn as stars and Pika/Pip as mascots rather than only Ash and Pika
That might be a reason for them to keep Dawn

I also think it's possible they'll try a group of 4 again and even out the number of boys and girls
In this case they can simply add the new girl to the current cast (and possibly replace Brock with the new boy too)

Also, I'm sure the writers know very well it's going to get seriously ridiculous if they replace a girly girl Coordinator with cute Poké by another one again and again
To do it once is ok but I doubt they'll do that for every gen now...
And most of us realize a girly girl Coordinator star will always be here, there's no way they'll remove this after they worked so hard to make a plot that appeals more to girls
Contests and a girly heroine doing them is Pokémon's way to appeal more to young girls

Of course, I admit it's possible she'll leave, but I hate it when people say she'll leave as if it's a fact
Also, the text that appears on the beginning of every OP in Japan used to say that this is "Ash's story" - even during AG when we had May
But in DP they bothered to change that text so now it's "Ash and Dawn's story"

Well Pipulp has an opinion, just like I have my own. Hopefully we can just respect each others opinions on this.

I respect you and everyone who think she'll leave
I even agree that it's likely to happen
What I hate is when people act as if it's a FACT
Until it happens we can't be sure... but maybe I really should prepare myself (though I won't be surprised if I'll end up liking new girl more XD I got annoyed every time a girl left but eventually liked the new girl more XD )

This thread is kinda flamebait-y, IMO. Dawn will leave when her time comes, which probably won't be for another 2 years.

Piplup, it IS a FACT.

Tell me that when the episode where Dawn leave will air
Until that happens, I don't care what anyone says
Just to be on topic and not to start an arguing about whether she'll leave or not, I'll say how I'd like it to be in case she does leave

I think it's inevitable that she'll go after her rivals... but unlike May, she'll probably want to stay with Ash and won't like the idea of travel alone
With all the emotional stuff with her character I at least expect them to make a cute emotional farewell to her, not the "hey guys I leave kthxbye" thing May had, even Max cared more than her!

She'll probably be forced to leave because her rivals go to region X while Ash wants to go to region Y (which wasn't May's reason, Ash still didn't know where he'll go next when she made that decision... May clearly stated she'd like to travel alone)

I actually think that since Dawn started out as this optimistic but unexperienced coordinator and that in the beginning she relied on Ash and Zoey a little bit, but was shown to have grown and matured and grown more self-reliant, she'll decide to travel alone (possibly to Hoenn or Kanto) as way for the writers to show all the progress she's done. Ash and Brock will swear they'll never forget her... and she'll do a guest cameo once in the gen V series and develop a friendship with new girl... (unoriginal but still effective)

But this thread is jumping the gun a little bit...
