How should we deal with the GTS's problems?

I imagine that everyone who has been on the GTS knows that for every fair trade on there, there's about 20 idiots who think they'll get real legendaries for their Bidoofs and Caterpies. I see that most of them are asking for Darkrais, which you can't even trade the legit ones anyway because of that stupid classic ribbon. There are also people who put up obviously hacked monsters and expect people to fall for them (Looking at the official site, I found 5 female lv.61 Spiritombs with the same moveset). I know that this was covered in a Bulbanews article already, but that was three years ago, and people still don't learn. Why doesn't Nintendo do something to curb the stupidity? What do you think?

2ch actually has a thread that talks about sending the idiots hacked pokemon (weak movesets, IV's all 0, obscene names) to stop them from using GTS. What do people think about this? I personally think they are doing the right thing.

It's good in theroy, but we can't stop them. It's like deh n00bs. We can't ignore it, can't tame it, and if we give them what they want, then they'll just ask for more.

Lolx.. I actually hope someone hack a Mew less than lvl 9 for them instead.. XD

Lol. Don't pay attention. To what I've seen most of those ridiculous trade proposals come from Japanese people(no offense).

P.S Why would you look for Caterpies and Bidoofs on the GTS, lol?

Wow, i see the exact opposite. Just now I traded a drifloon for an eevee

That would only be because most of the traders are Japanese. On my globe, it says I've traded with people from about 20 Japanese prefectures (the equivalent of states), as opposed to 6 each in US and Europe, and 1 in Afganistan(!).

As for the Caterpies, I don't have FR/LG (or Emerald) so I can't double slot. I just hack in a Caterpie in my Ruby, send it via Pal Park so it registers in the Pokedex, then I look for a real one on GTS. I found all of the double slot pokemon this way except for Magmortar. The Bidoof was just an exxageration.

I have a few solutions for this.

-Before going to GTS your Pokemon would have to be ran through some sort of a hack checker. This would cost Nintendo a shit load of money.
-Nintendo getting rid of GTS.
-Ceasing sales of AR's.
-Preventing downloads of PokeSav.
-Prevent kids from being morons.

The list can actually go on and on. But as long as software like PokeSav and the device like ActionReplay exits these things will happen. Discussions on cheating in this fandom can get very heated and all end up nowhere.

Only thing I can say is, DON'T TRADE THERE if it's such a big fucking problem. Find people to trade with on forums or chat rooms...although since the AR and PokeSav can be obtained by almost anyone, cheating and hacking will always be a part of this fandom if you like it or not.

Well.. Some people want to trade just to get different ID.. Or even different country for breeding and experience purposes..

As for Caterpie, there's people who need it "urgently" or it extinct in one's PC, like what happen to my Squirtle.. :)

My solution to the GTS's problems is to not even bother with it. It's much easier to simply look for something in the Trading Station here on the forums than to find a reasonable trade in that clusterfuck of n00bs and idiots.

I see that most of them are asking for Darkrais, which you can't even trade the legit ones anyway because of that stupid classic ribbon.

Legitimate Darkrai captured on Newmoon Island in Platinum don't have the Classic Ribbon.

The idea that sending these people jacked-up Pokemon would in any way affect the problem like the Japanese /b/tards are suggesting is just naive. Most of them are n00bs trying to get a leg up. Chances are even if you gave them a Pokemon with 0 IVs, they'd never know the difference. What's worse, it would just encourage them to ask for more ridiculous garbage.

It isn't just Caterpie and Bidoof. There's no Pokemon that's exempt from this stupidity. For example, I have Emerald, LeafGreen, and Platinum, which means it's pretty much impossible for me to capture an Ekans or Arbok. Situations like that are what the GTS was pretty much MADE for. However, when I do a search for Arbok, here are the three hits I get:

Lv. 31 Male for a Lv.100 Male Zangoose
Lv. 45 Female for any Entei
Lv. 10 Male for any Entei (Ekans begins evolving into Arbok at Lv.22, btw.)

The whole system is just totally screwed.

Sorry if I came across as hotheaded. I don't mind cheating, as proven by my Caterpie trick and sending hacked pokemon through GTS. What I do mind are the aforementioned idiots who clog up the system with their unreasonable demands. I just wanted to check that other people found this annoying as well.

It is annoying but why do you bother with them? No need to get mad at them because well...I don't know why you should rage over idiots. The GTS has more flaws then cons and honestly trading on forums is easier, plus if someone screws you from a trade you can report them and etc.

Finding reasonable trades in GTS is indeed rather hard, but by checking often and trying many different filter combinations (including the country filter), it usually works.

For the Afganistan, I have a trade or two from there as well. I believe someone has just picked the first country on the list when registering his/her location.

Something I noticed about the GTS is that you can offer a level 41 Starly but you can't offer a level 2 Staraptor. That proves they at least have a level check.

I have no idea how they could solve the GTS problems. They would probably need a bunch of people to look at all the trades on the GTS and decide which ones seem unfair. They probably don't have enough people for that.

Protip: Dont search, offer. Most likely to get what youre looking for if you offer a fair trade. Toss any hacked Pokemon and retry.

However I dont see stupid offers as the main problem plaguing the gts, its the uncertainty of receiving a hacked or cloned Pokemon instead. However the chance of getting hacked/cloned Pokemon is just as great as asking for them on this forum. From my short time here Ive seen a lot of 'shops' that use AR to clone their gear. AR is hacking, those cloned Pokemon are Hacks.

If you want a trade for a rare Pokemon be willing to offer something of equal value for it, at the risk of losing something special but gaining something even better in your books. Thats the thrill of trading that has long been lost. Yeah I kinda went off on a tangent but I wanted to say that. Lol.

The whole set up annoys me. Why on earth isn't there an option to seatch for people who need what you've got? Let's say I've got a Chimchar I want to trade away; I want to do a search and see what people are offering for Chimchar. But you can't! You can pick exactly one Pokémon to search for, and that's it. It's annoying! I guess they do it so that you can't see Pokémon that aren't in your 'dex yet. But that's another annoying thing. How on earth am I supposed to get, say, a Charmander? I've even used one in the Battle Factory! Yet I can't search for it on the GTS. What, did my character have his eyes closed throughout the Factory matches?

And people always seem to make ridiculous offers, as the OP says. I wanted a Trapinch; looking it up, people wanted either level 100 Ho-oh, a higher level Trapinch, or any Mew. Great. Thanks, people. Why on earth would someone be wanting to trade their level 79 Vibrava for a level 100 Vibrava?

I ended up offering a Chimchar for a Trapinch, and got one. It really is best just to offer... Provided you can offer for it.

And this is why I DO NOT use the GTS. I simply trade with you guys.

Well I've only been to the GTS once and saw a shiny Drifblim. They wanted a Shaymin, probably fake though.

Oh really? I am surprised that 4chan has not done something like that, sounds like fun.

Just ignore them. It's like spam on a website. If you respond to it, it gets even worse. If you ignore it, well... there aren't GTS mods. But that is a great idea, having Nintendo employees around the world searching for unreasonable trades and literally taking them out. Their games would have a code that allows them to do that.

for Darkrais, which you can't even trade the legit ones anyway because of that stupid classic ribbon.

Not hacked. Semi-hacked. Walkthrough walls to get to New Moon Island/whatever it is, then fight Darkrai/capture him, it's still technically a legit Darkdai.

I found 5 female lv.61 Spiritombs with the same moveset).

That's not hacking, that's cloning.

You can't change it, no one can, as annoying as it is. Not even Nintendo can without investing hundreds of pounds into something that, inevitable, after a week or two, hackers will be able to bi-pass completely and will make a patch for something like the PokéSav. Hackers are brilliant people.
Whilst I do agree completely that the GTS has a problem, you're better off going on forums like this one to trade. I often go on the GTS though when I'm bored to see if there are any alright trades, but usually, none.
