How strong is Ashs Palpitoad?

Average. He was displayed as strong on its debut episode, but, sincerly, it is below boldore's level. Yeah, yeah, it beat stoutland, fight against two zebstrika. It didn't impress me. My opinion.

I was waiting for a good secondary evolved water type to Ash, since became obvious he wasn't have samurott. But, since evolution didn't help unfezant and boldore episodes later (different from krookodile and leavanny), I doubt a possible seismitoad would change a thing.

It's probably the worst Water-type Satoshi has caught.

I can't think of how the saga would have changed without it. It's had 3-4 fights? None of them were particularly great, especially as Zebstrika isn't exactly difficult for a Gamagaru and Carbernet nearly always loses. It has average strength at best.

It's a shame, too. In both Pokémon B / W, Seismitoad was easily my strongest.

Umm... About as strong as many of Ash's other Pokémon perhaps? I really don't see anything special about it, honestly.

Not very. It has great potential, if only he actually cared for it instead of treating him like his slave...

Palpitoad is strong in my opinion. His moveset is good(Sludge Wave, Hydro Pump, Mud Shot and Supersonic). And he defeated Burgundys Stoutland which is pretty good because Stoutland was actually very strong. Then Dinos Darumaka was no big deal. Elesas Zebstrika was very strong as it defeated Biancas team single handedly. And Palpitoad managed to defeat it and endure pretty much. Its loss against Emolga was because of Ashs stupidity and Attract. Against Garbodor the writers just wanted Pikachu to star in Ashs last Unova Gym Battle. And Stephans Zebstrika was faster and had a very strong moveset and Palpitoad got a draw.
And all this happened while Palpitoad probably is one of Ashs least trained pokemons. So yes Palpitoad is strong. It only lacks appearance.

Stoutland was strong? Can you really say that after we've only seen it participate in one battle that was rather short at? I doubt Stoutland is especially strong considering it do belong to Burgundy, who has lost every battle we've seen her participate in.

Against Garbodor the writers just wanted Pikachu to star in Ashs last Unova Gym Battle.

That's hardly a legitimate argument.

And all this happened while Palpitoad probably is one of Ashs least trained pokemons.

That's more like bad writing than an especially impressive feat.

I'm alright with Palpitoad, I think it's average, though personally I think that he and Boldore are the weakest Pokémon out of Ash's Unova team, but I still don't think they're weak.

Tell me a reason for Stoutland to not be strong. It is a fully evolved pokemon. And Burgundy is not a bad trainer. If she was that she would not have three fully evolved pokemon.
Even if it is bad writing it is true that Palpitoad got little training.

I think Palpitoad is Strong, he could be shown a little more and Battled more Often I think and he is Special I think in my Own Opinion.

When Ash battled Stoutland with Palpitoad, it was their very first time to battle together. How strong can Palpitoad really be if it loses against Palpitoad when it's Palpitoad's very first battle with Ash? While it's true that Palpitoad was capable of battling before Ash caught it, it still lost to Oshawott. Having it beat a fully evolved Pokémon right after being caught just proves how weak Stoutland must be, regardless of it being fully evolved or not.

And Burgundy is not a bad trainer. If she was that she would not have three fully evolved pokemon.

I'm a huge fan of Burgundy, but it's pretty clear that she's not a very good trainer. As I said, she's lost all of her battles we've seen her participate in, and in most of those battles she even had a type advantage (Crustle Vs. Dewott, Excadrill Vs. Dewott, Darmanitan Vs. Serperior, even Pansage Vs. Sawsbuck where Pansage's moves all were weak against Sawsbuck's typing). She's improving, but defeating her is not too impressive, possibly only if she had the type advantage.

If he got some decent screentime and training, he would be stronger, but the writers gave Ash too many Pokemon.

I think that Palpitoad is average at best. It's probably one of Ash's better Unova reserves, but it still hasn't had really impressive battles. I don't think that the series would be drastically different if Ash hadn't caught it. It's okay, but nothing to write home about in my opinion.

I think it is less than average. As others had said, it would probably be stronger if it got a bit more screen-time and some training. However, I felt that Ash's Unova team was mostly concentrated on Tepig/Pignite and Oshawott (and maybe Scraggy).

I agree with those who say average strength. It has a lot of potential, but lack of screentime and battling prevented it from ever showing how great I believe it could really be.

I really do enjoy its moveset though, and whenever Ash uses it they seem to sync so well, thus its always a treat to watch it in battle. Despite the few battles its had I'd still rank it above both Unfezant and Boldore, dare I say even Scraggy perhaps. And I definitely prefer it over Ash's other Unova water type.

Palpitoad is highly overrated. S/he is average compared to the rest of Satoshi's BW team.
