fairly obvious. there are five of each color, correct? so you click on the color, which narrows it down to those five, and it spreads the five out among the five houses. you click on the house, its easy.

i remember that game! it's like the magic cards trick, where you add up the numbers in the top left corners.

Each of the houses only contains one number of any particular colour. (Though it seems odd that there are 6 numbers per house and only 5 colours, the reason for that is that each house contains a "fake" number that wasn't among the origional ones you can choose).

Since you've given the colour and the house, it just picks the one number of your colour choice out of the house you chose. (Say you chose Red and house A, it will pick the only number in house A that was red on the first screen)

Every other selection screen (the crystal balls for example) is just to make it seem as though it's magic. I'm pretty sure all three doors contain your number so that it apears regardless of which door you chose, and the other doors have their numbers randomly changed after you open the first one which gives the illusion that the other doors contained different numbers all along.

So is it basically just by chance or by what you answer?

What's odd is if you click the other doors after you find your number, they have different numbers. But I think that you're right, all the doors contain your number then after the door opens, the game changes the other doors to random numbers among the first selection.
