How to disable the "New Subscribed Posts" notification?

The only way to make it go away completely is to make it so you no longer subscribe to threads which you can do through your User Control Panel. Go to Settings, click on General Settings ans scroll down until you see Default Thread Subscription mode, you can then disable it by clicking Do not subscribe and save your settings.

Thanks, this worked. As I said, it's been driving me nuts.
