How To Make The Background Transparent in GIMP

Hi! I made this tutorial to help others and to clarify things...

Though im pretty sure the answer is no, can I use the bucket tool insted of the eraser tool?

You could just add the Alpha Channel and then use the Magic Wand Tool, select the white (and make sure that the tool's not set to being Contagious so that you don't select anything that's actually part of the sprite) and press the delete key =\

I didn't know it could work that way and it seems quicker too. :dumb:
Maybe I need to edit the tutorial or just delete this thread altogether...
