How was pokémon for you this year?

From 1 to 5, how would you classify the importance of this year for this matter?

And another year has passed...
On 2012 we've passed by a series of changes in pokémon, most notably the quick rise of Black 2 and White 2, the long expected sequels to Black and White. With this thing and many others, it's impossible for anyone of us not to have a word to say about pokémon this year. Which were the changes on your perception and experience? Were they good or bad? What do you expect for 2013? I know there are many different and existing answers to this thread, and that's a clear evidence of how vast is the world of pokémon, and of how much it has changed in another year.

So, here remains the main question: What has changed in pokémon for YOU, and in which way could the year in which the world didn't end be (if it is) a year to remember?

Now for me: yes, the first half of 2012 was indeed a very important period for pokémon to me: On Pearl (the only game in which you may say I'm actually trying to catch 'em all) I started off with 242 caught, I think, and then with the help of things like many trades and the beggining of the use of the dual-slot mode (with a loaned game; I have nothing for GBA), by July I reached the 300 mark. Why not more? I just have one DS, and with my age, there are a very few people willing to trade. This at the same time that my old device started freezing with a MUCH bigger frequence, specialy after my grandma accidentaly dropped it D:. Well, but meanwhile I just couldn't wait for the release of B2W2, something that could be noticed by the fact that I was always seeking for news about that. And eventualy they came out, and I bought White 2. The problem was... the freezes! At the first days it was scary, but I could still play in a normal way. Then, the freezes vanished for some days! I was very happy, when suddenly... it started freezing with a legendary frequence! And I just had got to the part when you reach Opelucid City with 6 badges! Finaly, I concluded that my DS was completely unplayable (unless I wanted to do something really simple, like picking up a mystery gift). From that time on, my pokémon fun was forbidden... by my own DS! And I don't feel convincing my parents to let me buy another one (with my money) like an easy task.
Well, this was anyway a very important year for me, full of other things that I didn't refer, like the fact that I accidentaly discovered the GB Sounds glitch, and the events (I can't forget the Arceus givaway at PGL!). So, I give a 4 on the poll to 2012, and for this year I am expecting (or can't expect for) buying a 3DS and restoring my pokémon gameplay (I hope my old DS will have enought HP for transferring the wifi info), and in case such thing happens (it MUST happen!), I will be one of the people to be most excited by an eventual announcement of a RSE remake (recently I've been reading rumors about a surprise happening on the 8th...), without stopping my support to the RBY re-remakes!

Well, waiting for your replies, and happy new year!

2012 was probably the most important year by far. You see, I quit Pokemon back in late 2011 and it carried over to 2012. (I was even a bit anti-Pokemon and now I feel guilty.) Early in March, I was starting to return to Pokemon. But I returned as a different person. I was now into competitive battling and I was on Smogon and PO for the first time. Then PS came and I was more into it. I also did my first Nuzlocke run. I bought a 3DS I was getting ready for 6th Generation, but the only game I bought was Mario Kart 7. Later Pokemon Black 2 came out and I desperately needed a new game so I bought it. I eventually got bored of Black 2 after easily beating the PWT, so I decided it was time to join a forum. I ended up choosing Bulbagarden over Serebii.

That was a quick overview of 2012 for me. Now days I do Nuzlockes and battle on PS, and spend the rest of the time on Bulbagarden forums, eagerly awaiting the announcement of generation 6.

This year was a year of fun nerdy speculation. With the release of BW2 I got to take part in discussions and either root for or try to debunk theories on the new games. I completed a second playthrough of White, which is always enjoyable. This was the first year I really felt part of the fandom and all of its slightly insane glory. Not to mention I got a peek into the Nintendo World in NYC and the Pokémon Center there. T'was a very geeky trip~

My only complaint is that I have yet to memorize the Gen 5 Pokédex by heart and Generation 6 seems to be on the rise. I am running out of time!

A lot of fun! It sure was a surprise seeing Black 2/White 2 announced, and it was enjoyable playing the game and especially with the shorter gap between Japanese and English release. Other than that I enjoyed Dream Radar and went on the Dream World a lot, which is ok. After Black 2/White 2 I'll admit my excitement died sown quite a bit and I dont play as much, but I still love Pokemon. Hopefully this year holds more surprises in store for the franchise.

2012 has definitely been the most important year for me so far. After all, it's the year I got re-obsessed with the franchise. The anime, the games, the TCG, I got back into it all. (though I'm still managing getting back into the TCG). I started trying to battle competitively and EV training.

Also, as a result of getting back into Pokémon, I discovered Bulba, so that's good.

I must take this too personally, because this year I returned to Pokémon stuff after about ten years and I acknowledged with all new games, Pokémon and series released since then.
(That caused that I began to be affraid that l´ll lose all my friends, because sometimes I couldn´t talk about other stuff, but this has been recently fixed, or at least I hope so :) )

Black & White 2 are the best games since Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire and that's over ten years ago so I think that says something on my behalf, I really enjoyed Pokemon in 2012 and I'm looking forward to how it pans out this year especially with this announcement imminent.

I wasn't as riveted by B/W2 as I was by their predecessors, but since my big hobby for 2012 was creating Pokemon drinking games, I give a perfect 5. 2012 was a BIG Pokemon year, and hopefully 2013 will be even bigger!

Well for starters, the only major poke thing that happened was BW2, and the fact that I got a used GBA SP for Christmas. I also got a game. The game was Emerald. I am currently proceeding to play it to death.
