We all know Pokemon do die at somepoint, just take a look at places like Mount Pyre and the Pokemon Tower for that.

But how and why? You'd expect a grass pokemon to be burnt to cinders, but they just faint(Because it's a kiddie game a blah blah blah)

Do they die from old age? If so, does that apply to legendaries like Arceus who have been around since nineteen-o-dot?

Do they die from serious bodily injuries? Like a broken neck or something? What about pokemon like Porygon and Magnemite?

Take for example Charmander. Numerous pokedex entries say if it's flame were to ever go out, it would die.
Enter, say, Empoleon.
One hydro-pump and its bye bye Charmander, if this was the case.

And WHEN they die, do they become gastly/gengar/misdreavus/insertghostpokemonhere?

I personally believe that Ghost pokemon are "True Ghosts", and that dead pokemon are Spirits, like the Marowak, and they gravitate toward their regions graveyard, Pkmn Tower, Mount Pyre, House of Rest ect ect.

What do you think?

well, I think some pokemon are incapable of dieing, Arceus for one, not giratina lol

but most of them would die of stuff like old age, disease, wounds, if u recall from the Gen I series, a Marowak was killed getting away from T.Rocket

Most pokemon would die in a different way, as most of them would end up as ghost types, and as for porygon, it's a virtual pokemon, I don't think it'll actually die

, and as we know the whole char-(evolution) and Spoink will die losing a certain thing (flame, the pearl).... *bla bla bla lol*

It's possible for Pokémon to die if they put too much of a strain on their willpower. Remember Celebi in the fourth movie?

Actually, was it the willpower thing or did the nasty nest just collapse on top of it? It's been a while since I've actually seen the movie.

I think they'd die just like anything else would die - disease, old age, serious injury etc
They just don't die in battle because their trainers return them when the pokemon faint, and foe trainers don't want to kill your pokemon

Pokémon probably die from old age, wounds, etc. The same way we do, but they don't show it (kiddie game *sigh*). Arceus and the rest probably can die too, but myths and legends (hence "legendary") say they can live for millions of years (bull).

So yeah, my two cents.

I really think seriouse injurys, deadly diesease and maybe old age and yet if a pokemon wants to a sacerfices like in the 5th movie.

Pokémon can die or be killed in the same ways a human would. Illness, accident, injury, old age. Plus some other ways that would be fatal to them. It greatly depends on the physiology of the Pokémon in question.

They never show actual deaths in the games or the show because it's aimed at children.
