I was wondering about this for a while. Will they addd a new type of contest food in Johto? Or will the dancing and dressing part of it stay? Who will the judges be and where will it be?

Well, from what I remember, someone translated the screens we got from one from CoroCoro (the first one to show the map partially) and someone translated a section to show that pokemon following you collect accessories. I think Ryuu said that he had it saved, but it might have been someone else. If there are accessories, then Super Contests will return, since that was the only point of having accessories.

How will the contests be handled?

Hopefully they won't be Oo;;

...

I guess if they do go down that ruote though I think most of the mechanics will remain the same. I can't really see an obvious Contest Hall in the Johto Map so it's anyones guess where they'd place it.

I have the translated scans from corocoro confirming accessories getting picked up. I just think we're getting something like in DPPt.

They might have accesories for when you dress your pokemon up for Photos and stuff.

I really doubt Contests will be in HGSS, just like they weren't in FRLG.

The problem with this is at least one Pokemon evolves via Contests - Milotic. Also, Ribbons weren't in FRLG, but they're viewable in HGSS. Also, the accessory pickup. Everything points to Contests being in HGSS at this point, I'm just wondering where they'll put them.

Well, it's not really the contests that do it, it's the poffin/pokeblock. And Feebas wasn't in FRLG either.

You also weren't given the ability to catch almost all the Pokemon between Ruby and Sapphire like you were in Diamond and Pearl. They'll probably let you capture all the non-starter non-event legendary Pokemon in HGSS aswell (maybe with the lack of Regis and Bird trio).

Goldenrod or Olivine seem like good choices.

Ditto, but if the accessories are in, there's a pretty big chance that they're in. At least it's optional, and not required.

I actually like the contests. They were a nice change of pace every now and again. I do hope they make it into HG/SS, but if they don't, thats what D/P/Pt is for. I do think they should make some changes, just so it doesn't get stale.

well if they don't exist, then you won't have a sheen on pokemon most likley as thats what the sheen is for, for contests. But then, what would you do about feebas? It has to have maxed out beauty to evolve.

Remember FR/LG was not meant to replace the other Gen III main games, they came before Emerald. HGSS are meant to take over from Platinum as main game to play and with all the features already in game, you can't really compare these remakes to FR/LG. FR/LG was mearly a graphical update remake for GBA using Gen III battle system/moves/HMs and graphics. Sevii was just thrown in for catching Gen II pokemon so you'd have a way of obtaining them at that stage. Adding Gen II pokemon, modified the E4 rematch pokemon but that was really it, new sevii was hardly up to that much, not HGSS, they by the looks of it are going all out to make this the best pokemon games so far.

I'd lean more towards Olivine, since Jazmine took part in Sinnoh, however they could have more than one Contest Hall like Hoenn...but why the hell would they do that

Don't see any place where Contest Hall could be.

Maybe the new spot near National Park?

Dunno.

After all, I hope that Contest Halls WILL NOT be featured in the game. I know, accessories and stuff. But maybe we'll taking the word "accessories" to literally here? Maybe it's not what we're thinking about...

I dunno. A part of me still hopes that Contests will not be in HGSS. They're not what we need.

They weren't in Fire Red and Leaf Green. Why should they be in HGSS?

I already explained why. : /

The holy Maxim gets to decide what is fun and what is not.

HGSS are meant to replace the Sinnoh games, since Platinum is already over, so there has to be a way to get all Pokemon obtainable in some fashion. Unlike Gen III, because Emerald was released after FRLG.

Also, THIS.

I'm not deciding anything.

Don't show your obvious bias when someone is opposing your opinion. I have my own opinions about everything and I have my right to say it. So, save your unneccessary comments to yourself. No opinion here is deciding and I'm aware of that. Wonder why you didn't tell that to any other people who were hoping for no Contests, just like me.

Also, your argument about Feebas's evolution can easily be disproven. Feebas may simply be uncatchable in HGSS, as it was catchable in DPPt, so putting it in HGSS wouldn't affect the Pokedex completability in any way. Do we need every single Hoenn Pokemon in HGSS? Think not.

And if it'll be uncatchable, there's no need to make it evolve-able in HGSS. Just as in FR/LG. You couldn't catch a Feebas there, so you couldn't evolve it. Simple.

Bringing unneccessary Contest because of ONE Pokemon?

Contests I hope will be back, but I do hope they're not just the same as DPPt. They have to have SOMETHING different in Johto from Sinnoh and Hoenn.

And what's been said about how FRLG didn't have them so "duh HGSS won't", well, FRLG was bookended by RS and E, which both had contests. You could trade either forward or back (as far as releases are concerned) to a Hoenn game to get Milotic. How much of a pain would it be to break out your old games that have fallen into the past just to get a danged Milotic for dex.

Plus, people want contests to become part of the main storyline. If they focus some of their development there (while leaving Johto and Kanto reasonably old-school) then by Gen V we may see contests which are more than just a sidequest, and just as fun as beating other Trainers.

Honestly, why does it matter if they're in it? If you don't like contests, then do what you always do and just don't play them, and for those of us who do, hooray for us.

Seriously.

-_-

And don't give me any of this continuity bullshit. Pokemon didn't follow you in the original HGSS, there's an Arceus side story along with Kyogre and Groudon, the NEP plot, entirely new areas...

And why is it when there seems to be concrete evidence towards contests, people are going around saying they don't think its in it, yet, unless Kanto is actually confirmed to be in a remake of Gold and Silver, people have to have their insane doubts and rants.
