We all know it'll end only after the games stop coming out (or that's what we expect to happen) so ASSUMING IT DOES END, HOW DO YOU PICTURE THE END? Imagination is what's being asked, about characters, regions, who'll be Ash's "last" companions, what will happen to TR, where is professor Oak, what kinds of pokemons will be the last ones released, where do they actually come from and why, etc, how shall it all end?

Ash finishing a league (either winning or losing), going back to Pallet Town for a while, and then going on more adventures that we don't see.

Everyone dies.

Just kidding this show is never going to end.

GF stops making new pokemon games. And then Ash will win a league and become a pokemon master. Oak will continue taking care of Ashs pokemon. We will never see what happens to Brock, Misty, Dawn, Cilan and the other guys. The last travelling companions will be someone from a future Gen.

Iiiit probably won't. If we're lucky, they'll slowly fade out Ash's adventures over the course of making Origin and start again from the next generation onwards.

The anime wont end until the writers decide to end it.

Who knows if it will even ever end. Knowing Nintendo and Gamefreak they will probably try to milk out as much money as possible, and as long new games keeps coming out anime will probably continue to exist. So i wouldnt expect closure for Ash, TR or any character named Misty, May, Cilan, Brock etc anytime soon.

However hypothetically when anime comes to end, i think Ash will probably either become or come very close toward achievement of his pokemon master goal. At very least i think he would win league, defeat E4 and probably leave hi story to certain extent open in sense of announcing traveling to other regions, fulfilling specific tasks like Battle Frontier was going on bigger and more requiring challenges never stopping to explore (happening of screen of course).
I also think it would be fitting if he met his father who happens to be very strong trainer serving as final and ultimate test to Ash skills as trainer,to show if he has what it takes to become master. It would be interesting to see father-son showdown.

If there happen to be final season, i still wouldn't completely rule out posibillity of writers reuniting Ash, Misty and Brock for one final adventure together reunion of original trio is possible because it would not only allow to provide better sense of closure to series as a whole with things coming full circle with those who started it, but it would also make stronger connection to past and Ash hometown region from where his journey started with their reunion being done for continuity purposes.
Personally i would be interested to see how that group would work out today. Now that Ash,Misty and Brock matured a bit knowing each other already for a long time it would be intriguing to find out how they would interact between themselves if thy went on one more journey knowing their flaws better providing for different but nonetheless equally funny moments.

I believe having them meet up with Ash at some point traveling in company for awhile in same direction he is heading while showcasing newly acquired skills, forming new relationships and going on bigger, more challenging steps advancing career woul not only bring twist to story but send very powerful message out there through throwback to past and emotion such encounter could bring .
In form of meeting up with good friend, renewing their friendship to catch up on missed time, remember all thopse fun times and moments they went through, build on friendship and have them push story forward thx to their presence and connections their dreams might have adding fir long lasting, memorable impact.
Which might be writers message to audience in case they decide to pave tribiute and respect to series roots having things come full ciurcle in sense of starting and concluding show with original cast.

Their reunion could also attract more of older fans toward this show judging be demand for them being reunited out there with purpose being to reach beyond current demographic, increase ratings and act as reward for all fans who were part of this franchise contributing to its growing popularity.

In correlation i still maintain some small hope of writers having enough decency and respect in dedicating last season to all Ash traveling companions which helped to mold him as person and trainer leaving influence on story. In form of arcs through which each would be focused on everyone , their dreams and wrapping up of loose ends.
Be it:
- May and Dawn tying up unfinished things with rivals becoming recognized and successful top coordinators,

-Brock becoming respected and well known doctor on global basis opening clinic or traveling around world to held symposiums,

- Iris ending as dragon master gaining acknowledgment from other dragon specialists and dragon village she originated from.

-Cilan becoming top class connoisseur opening his shop,

-Misty eventually stepping up from gym position following Wallace or other strong trainers foot steps traveling to learn new things, entering strong tournaments like Whirl Cup becoming recognized water master or E4 member of water types (with water master career having links to it idolizing Lorelei both in game and anime version along with E4 being best type specialists in world fitting her high ambitions t),

-Max grows up and becomes trainer collecting notable collection of psychic types making successful achievements in this field.

Along with Clemont, Bonnie , Derena and whatever billionth companion would join Ash in future achieving their dreams and gaining deserved respect and admiration for their efforts and determination.

Tying up everything at end of last season with spectacular grand finale where everyone come to support Ash for most important battles of his life, giving him moral strength and support of not being alone arranging one massive gathering of everyone in same place.
Through some sort of timeskip taking place few years from last known present i nto future creating nice sense if progression of each other lives and their evoolution as persons and trainers making for more eventful conclusion.
Granted i may expect too much, but this would be fair and fitting ending for long lasting franchise like Pokemon imo.
One can at least dream.

The anime will only end if a main-series game ends up bombing, which is unlikely unless Game Freak does something that turns many fans off old and new and the franchise as a whole essentially jumps the shark, which the anime itself has done several times.

If the anime did end (which it probably won't due to popularity and such) it would end with Ash finally meeting Ho-oh who tells him that it has been searching a long time for someone who possesses the quality's needed to be it's partner in accomplishing a great mission that will effect the entire world. And that the reason Ash has seen it so many times throughout his journey is because it has been observing his progress as a trainer to see whether or not he has those very quality's and he that it has decided that Ash is the one who will help it complete this great mission. Ho-oh then asks Ash if he will help it to which Ash says yes. The episode ends with Ash flying away on Ho-oh's back waving good-bye to his friends and family after saying farewell to them all. It is then revealed some time after the episode airs that a new Pokemon anime that will focus on Ash's journey with Ho-oh to complete this great mission will premier sometime in future with the first episode revealing just what this great mission is. And of Pikachu will be with Ash all the way to the very end.

So tell me what do you guys think about that?

It will end with Ash finally realizing why Pokemon fight, Pikachu saying goodbye, and a scene back in Pallet town years later with a young trainer choosing his first pokemon and wearing his "dads old baseball cap". The end scene will only refer to him as "That Katchum kid."

The only way to actually end this series will be with a "full circle" moment.

The same way of how Doraemon anime was ended

-- Just cut somewhere in the middle of the journey and stop permanently, without any ending made to Ash's journey.

I don't expect Ash's journey will end in any future year. So if the anime need to stop, it will then be just a very sudden and blunt stop, and it is the worst kind of ending from story-writing viewpoint.

A main character will trade with a character of the day, only for the Pokemon he/she receives to end up as a Bad Egg. He/she tries to hatch it by carrying it around and slowly one by one it corrupts the other Pokemon into Bad Eggs. Eventually The Twerps and their Pokemon will all be Bad Eggs, except one, yes one survives and that one is... Pikachu! Pikachu goes on a journey to find help but Team Rocket capture him and bring him to the Giovanni, thats when *gasp* DISASTER STRIKES! Pikachu turns into a Bad Egg and the entire Team Rocket organization soon follows. With Team Rocket vanquished, the day is saved, all thanks to some completely irrelevant to the series plot character of the day who hacked his/her Pokemon.

That or they'll run out of episodes like the Bo-BoBo anime.

One way it could end which I'd love to see, is Ash becoming a Champion of his home region with all of his Pokemon over the generations taking part in the major battles up to the final win to become Champion, and then see all of his friends, rivals, and companions and have flashbacks of all of his adventures to finish the series.

another way it could end with the world championships with 256 qualified trainers varied from Gym leaders to normal trainers. Region champions and elite four members to COTD trainers whom made it on the year long qualifying process
(which was started at p-1 grand prix)
to see who will be crowned the world champion trainer
