How do you think triple battles will be dealt with in the anime?

Personally, I think that Ash, Iris, Cilan will participate in some short triple battle tournament against some of their rivals.

I think Grave-E once said the Triple battles would be too difficult to animate and keep track of 6 pokemon attacking at the same time, so they may not be featured at all.

Haven't we technically seen Triple Battles in the anime already? You know, whenever Team Rocket sent out multiple of their 'mons at once and Ash and co would do the same?

Like how we saw a Double Battle in Ash's final OI Gym battle before they were made official?

I doubt it would be very complicated. Unless you were a professional animator, you wouldn't know how difficult it would be.

We haven't seen proper ones, though. For example, in the games Pokemon on the sides can't fight Pokemon furthest away from them, but the unofficial Triple Battles didn't take those rules into account.

Yeah, but this is the anime which makes up its own rules.

The way battling is done in the anime would make stuff like one side being only able to hit a certain side kind of awkward to animate.

But couldn't Pokemon simply exchange positions if this would be done in the anime? The games may restrict Pokemon from either left or right side to attack the opponent Pokemon from the opposite direction, but I'm sure the middle Pokemon or whatever can intercept the attacks to go either way for the anime.

I thought it would be good to showcase triple battles against the 3 different Gym Leaders, but it seems they decided it's too soon.

Perhaps later on the trio will go back to Striaton and meet Cress and Chili again for a triple battle against the three brothers.

Well, if it'll be any similar indication to AG's Watson... I don't know. The 1st BW Gym Battle was ok at best. I suppose it can be possible.

Keep in mind that in the anime, the distinction of which Pokemon is on the left/right and which is in the middle will quickly become meaningless. In the games, Pokemon line up neatly on each side of the field, but in anime battles, the Pokemon are all over the place.

Well, one thing is for sure. There's going to be a lot of animation work for triple battles. Unsure if this was tried in the past. I remember a group of Pokemon being used though.

Unlike double battles in RSE, triple and/or rotational battles really aren't necessary to complete the storyline in BW. None of the gym leaders nor members of the Elite 4 compete in triple and/or rotational battles. The Battle Subway doesn't even have a triple/rotational battle line.

I would like to say that triple and/or rotation battles will be covered at some point in the BW anime. It's difficult to gauge this, but the playable character in BW does not compete in a triple battle until they speak to a specific trainer in Driftveil City. Triple battles might be done either at this point or some time during the Unova League. It's hard to say at this point.

Filler moment/episode.

It might even be handled like the Wonder Launcher was: seeing it on TV and not really participating in one. Fairly certain rotation battles can be pushed aside that way, at least.

I think triple battles may be done eventually, and a mini tournament sounds like a good way to do it. Either that or maybe something were two siblings or something do Triple Battles, the other Rotational, and they're fighting over which one is best.

Frankly, I don't think it would be that hard to do. As Eitarou pointed out, we've had multiple unoffical triple battles, or even more in the past, and it hasn't been that difficult to keep track of the Pokemon. Maybe by getting rid of the restricted who you can hit rule will make things easier

Well, to me it seems as if Best Wishes writers don't even care about Trip, so probaly a filler episode. They could have done so much with him in the previous arc, than what? Oh yah, nothing. He won't have that epic battle with Ash in the league like Paul did, I can see just one episode and than leaves without any words.

I think there may be a triple battle competition in Driftveil. maybe even rotation battles too. I'm not sure. it definitely won't be featured often, if not just the once.
