How would the anime be different if certain characters had their game personalities?

The Pokemon anime rarely keeps personalities intact. Some might be similar to the game ones, but they're still different.

For example.. Cilan, he's extremely shy and nervous in the games.
Bianca also isn't fem-Barry in the games, and isn't a hyperactive fuzz ball like in the anime.
I don't really remember how Iris is though; but I know she's not the same as her anime counterpart.
Jasmine...

You know, I swear half of the time they're just trying to make them polar opposites of their game versions.

Misty and Brock aren't that much like their game personalities. The families they had in the anime altered their personalities.

I wouldn't say May was much like her game counterpart either, then again her only personality in the games consisted of nothing more than being helpful if you played as Brendan.

wll if cilan kept his in game personalities he would not be a pokemon connisuer, bianca would be plain boring, iris would be in occliplid city right now and everything we can to now in the anima would be wrong, dawn being rowens assistant, may being ashs rivil. so yeah the anima would be upside down if charaters kept their personalities from in game.

Re: How would the anime be different if certain characters had their game personaliti

The characters wouldn't be as interesting as they are now. The anime gives them more personality because they're a lot more active in the show. If Dento, Iris, May, or Dawn acted the same way they did in the games then they wouldn't nearly be as interesting. This especially counts for May and Dawn, since the player characters aren't very interesting and the male character is usually more interesting (especially for Brendan, who had a lot more development in the game than May.)

In some cases though the game handles the character better than the anime. Look at Steven for example. In the anime they just treated him like a typical character of the day butt in the games he's the champion (R/S) and in Emerald he helps you battle Team Magma.
Archie and Maxie were also handled poorly in the anime. They didn't appear until their finales while in the games you encounter then several times.

If Ash had the personality of Red he would have become a Pokemon Master years ago.

Considering a lot of NPCs are rather flat (save some of those of the newer generations), I'd get bored with it. You have to have personality written into characters.

And if Ash was really like Red, he wouldn't speak at all.

I think it would be most noticeable with Bianca, and is actually something I'd like to see. A hyperactive, ditzy rival is by no means a bad thing (and entertaining as hell to boot), but it's been done before.
Game Bianca had a more interesting personality I think, being indecisive and lacking in confidence she would have made a more unique rival.

Hm, Iris wouldn't be as a cynical and bitchy as in the anime. Even though it sounds hilarious, the game Iris is even more childish than the Iris from BW series. She's playful, she was raised by dragons and is somewhat hyper but less than anime Bianca. While the anime Iris hides her immaturity, the game Iris acts freely like a kid because she is one. XD

If Cilan was more like his game counterpart, then I doubt that he'd be a sommelier, since it's evident that he doesn't like to step on anyone's toes (he goes to great lengths to explain to the player character that the violence he and his brothers are about to inflict upon their pokemon is nothing personal, to the point where Chilli gets fed up with him).

It's interesting to picture just how differently things might have gone if they hadn't revised his character, given that the two incarnations are virtually polar opposites, though I'm inlined to think that, had they not changed Cilan, then Chilli might even have been the brother who'd tagged along for the series, as he's clearly the most assertive and outgoing of the Striation siblings in the games (even if Cilan's supposed to be the leader). :p

I'd probably be able to stand any episode involving Bianca...

Cilan wouldn't be as fun or annoying (depending on the episode) as he is now..

LOL!! I SO agree with you!

I don't know about keeping the game personalities. Maybe the anime could be different, but up till now, pretty much every important NPC had their personalities exactly like in the games, with a few exceptions. Cilan would be much quieter, but I feel that the writers might be able to pull it off one way or another.

Or would be a loser, depending on player...
