How would the "non-shippers" react if a ship became canon?

I don't mean like if you were an advanceshipper and pearlshipping became canon, I mean like the people who insist that no ship could ever happen and oppose all shippings happening within the anime. How would they react if in the finale Ash and Misty "finally" got together or if Ash and Dawn confessed they loved each other over the phone or something along the lines of that? Obviously, the supporter of the ship that was canon would go nuts and the rival shippers would also go nuts but, out of anger or something ahaha. But, how would all the doubtful Thomases out there react? Just curious, I myself am I about 50/50 on the if a ship could become canon not really sure, I support ships but, like I said 50/50 on if they'd ever happen. So what're your thoughts?

Probably not care one way or another. If you're not interested in shipping, it generally gets a "meh" response from people.

There are tons of fans of the anime and games who don't care about shipping at all. If any ship happens, I imagine the response from non-shippers would be, "Eh, ok" and just leave it at that.

Contrary to popular belief, most pokemon anime fans are not shippers.

Yeah, I've noticed that myself. Back in the day when I was a kid I use to think the entire fandom was an obsessive shipping nightmare. Of course I was young so I was like "Ew!" but, now I've realized quite the opposite most Pokemon fans seem to be neutral at the idea of shipping.

I think this is the reason people get annoyed when others bring up shipping in the general anime section, because over there a lot of the regular watchers of the anime simply don't care about shipping in general.

I'm pretty sure they don't like it being brought up is because shippers do carry a stigma of obsessiveness, that they're seeing what likely isn't meant to be there. Talking about it just brings the madness.

Anyway, if I were a non-shipper, I'd be annoyed that they're suddenly breaching the line they've drawn when it comes to it romance in general. If it wasn't between two people who would never be seen again, it was one-sided and never acted upon, and if it's not that, it was drawn out for so long, it just became part of the story and never reached so far that it went outright against the shounen aspect of the series. And as long as it didn't get in the way of the rest of the show, I'd tolerate it. Because there is such a thing as being "too different" when it comes to what makes this show tick.

I do ship, but I'm not obsessive, I've just grown up with a localisation/translation that implied something was there that wasn't in the original and I've been fond of it anyway since, along with another one I just felt should happen all along.

If I weren't a shipper, I wouldn't really care as long as it was being done well for the show - that said, I don't think it should. Even as a shipper I do not believe couples should ever really seriously form - that's just not how Pokemon goes and that's not what it's about, imo. I guess most non-shippers would be neutral if they didn't lay it on too thick, but there is a line. "If you're looking for significant romance, go get it somewhere else" is my general opinion when it comes to Pokemon.

It doesn't matter what you are; if you mention you're a shipper in a non-shipper crowd, you're going to be explaining yourself for a long time that you aren't one of the crazies. And they still might not believe you.

That's their problem, then. Not mine.

For the most part non-shippers don't mind ships if they're written well.

I don't think any non-shipper complained about Angie's very obvious crush in DP. Or the way Conway used to stalk Dawn. Or even Kenny, lol.

Hell, Holly liking Brock was so well received people hoped she returned throughout the entire span of DP, even though she never did. I remember a lot of people saying, "If Brock leaves at the end of DP, Holly should be the girl he ends up with."

I guess the writers wanted Brock to remain single forever, even now that he's not on the show anymore.

I don't know Pokeshipping was pounded into my skull as a kid SO hard that I would not call it non romantic show at all. Plus there is characters like Conway, Brock and Lyra. So guess they would feel no right to complain nor shock.
