I love the Ultra Recon Squad and I wish they had gotten a bigger role in the games. I’m hoping that we revisit Alola and Ultra Space in a future legends game and the lore gets expanded.

Some nice additions to USUM or a future game…

1- Allow the player to explore Ultra Megalopolis
2 - Have side quests in Ultra Megalopolis and let us interact with NPC’s
3- A possible antagonist that you have to defeat there (other than Necrozma) as part of a sidequest in which you join forces with the Ultra Recon Squad.
4- More ultra beasts to catch there.

I'm not sure there's much that can be done to improve the characters themselves, they always felt kind of flat and we might just need new members to salvage the organization. But as far as the organization in general, I think a Legends game about exploring Ultra Space like @bugfacts is suggesting would be perfect. Ultra Space definitely felt half-baked in USUM, all of the Ultra Space areas are really tiny and linear and there's little to do there, expanding on those areas and having the Ultra Recon Squad explore them and protect against UBs and other threats to Ultra Space would be a great way to improve them. Personally, I was hoping for a game more like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and its sequel/pseudo-remake A Link Between Worlds and Metroid Prime 2 with a sort of light world/dark world dynamic between Alola and Ultra Space, and you kind of see a little bit of this with Ultra Ruin, but with the series having gone open world I'm not sure if this will work as well (to my knowledge no one's ever pulled off an open world game in this style and IDK if one is even possible). More likely it'll probably be more like Legends Arceus where we can use Ultra Warp Ride to travel between different pockets of Ultra Space which would now be open area zones rather than linear passageways with Ultra Megalopolis serving as the Jubilife Village-esque hub.
