How would you like Ash and Co. to be in the future?

I just saw an early Advanced episode, where it was just Ash, May and Max... and then I thought, how would YOU have the group be like? Ash, Iris and Brock? Ash Cilan and May? Or someone else?

IMO, it would be great to try out Ash with the main girl AND some little kid like Max! It would be different :D
 
Katie Barry and Max(as a trainer). They would be conflicts over Barry leaving due to impatience and Max calling him dumb
 
Ash, Gary and Leaf. But that's cause I'm and RGBYFRLG dork, I imagine Leaf as a more expirienced trainer than Ash, and wonder if Gary would eventually loose his cool if he actually traveled with Ash for a long time. /= The conflict would be epic.

Also, the thread title seems misleading. The OP's post refers to the group they'd like to see but the title makes it look like we're talking how the characters would be like in the future. o_o

Yeah how we would like to see Ash form a group in the future xD
 
BW should've been Ash / Brock / BW heroine as a Coordinator and equal star... or keep Dawn there
If we had to replace Brock/Dawn then... Ash / BW hero / BW heroine OR Ash / Chili / BW heroine... with Bianca being a possible second girl in the group
Ash / Iris / Cilan just didn't do it to me (at least so far) and I hope I'll like next gen's group better... but they're ok and I'm getting used to them
 
I think I'd be more than content with the current set-up if Iris and Dent were being used to their full potential. A wild jungle girl and a refined city chap are excellent ideas for travelling companions, and two polar opposites are character options that I've wanted to see for a while now. I think I may have let my imagination get the better of me however, and raised my expectations too high. I don't dislike either of them, but I'm not exactly satisfied with how they've been handled thus far.

They're still two archetypes I'm very much fond of however, so...I...suppose they're who I'd like on the cast, just a wee bit 'better', if you catch my drift?

Otherwise, I'd almost certainly want an energetic character along the lines of Barry or Bianca on the main cast. I've seen arguments against this, with claims that they'd lose what made them special, or that they'd wear out their welcome, but I've been exposed to enough series that have had similar 'loud' characters who didn't get old. I know this is 'pokemon' and I should know better but...eh. :p


Adding to that; No past main characters ever returning for me. Ain't havin' none of that!
 
As far as a group that would make sense in the here and now, I'd accept no less than Ash, Hilbert, and Hilda. It's high time that both of a generation's main characters got to shine alongside Ash. Oh? You say it wouldn't work to have two other Trainers travel with Ash? That it would get tedious to have 3 Gym battles in every town? No need to have it that way; after all, the BW player characters are supposed to be older and all that, so it's more than possible that at least one of them could hang back and act in an advisory capacity rather than actively battling.
 
My personal wishes for anime group would be either:
original trio of Ash,Misty and Brock.
Ash-main character being selfexplanatory and who doesnt like him(barring few exceptions).
Misty-i like her wise range of emotions she expressed,being both temperative but also sweet inside having her girly moments.
She has great character and personality being very complex,having tendency to express what she feels not being afraid to speak out her mind etc.She also wasnt developed as much as she could be having some untapped potential and unfinished things in story to do something interesting and good out of it.Like advancing her goal of becoming best water trainer in world with E4 position(they are best one type trainers) or becoming someones apprentice being good way to wrap up her character with step forward being made.
In my opinion she was on big part reason why original trio worked so good.
Brock-because of being wisdom fulfilling his role of older caretaker for group well keeping characters in check.And when you think about pokemon team he collected over the years that one quite impressive collection being delighting to see them more in action.That and it would be welcomed to get some info on his life of being doctor seeing him practicing knowledge and learning more in wild.

Personally i would find nice to see this group being reunited for one last adventure(like last season perhaps?)making sense to finish pokemon anime with group which started it tying up loose ends with things coming full circle.

Or trying out group of Ash,Iris,Cilan and Misty.
So far we never had group which had two girls in one group and it would be interesting to see how would Cilan and Iris interact with Misty providing groundwork to establish some interesting character interactions with new characters leaning something from her and vice versa developing brother-sister relationship aswell strengthening friendship between older characters like Ash.
-Cilan is quite promising character having outstanding approach toward life and interesting dreams of being pokemon connoisseur
-Iris has appealing character with her past being veiled with mystery opening lot of possibilities in what direction writers could take her character
-Misty aside from having interesting personality and bringing more humor in group have lot of unexplored things in her story like her goal of becoming water pokemon master,relatively unknown backstory(hardly knowing anything abut her past and parents), being interesting to see her getting more development and in what direction writers would go with character and its dreams.
There is also left ample room to do more with her older pokemon(like Horsea or Goldeen either evolving them or enriching their movepool)aswell any new one she may catch.

To each their own.I feel some older characters werent given enough screen time having unexplored things and potential to offer more.

That and writers could always refresh them doing something worthwhile and good out of it for groups dynamic and their story.Seeing someone grow more following his further development cant hurt.

How about Ash retire and pass the touch to a new hero. The show has been largely downhill ever since end of Johto although Hoen was alright. Ash has been in the show for far too long. Had the writers actually did a better job in the earlier season which they were good, but in retrospect not good enough, Ash should of been only in Kanto and Johto. After all Ash was based on the main character of the first generation games.
 
Hmm I liked the group with May in it, So I would go with Ash, Brock, May, and maybe a young nurse joy. We don't know to much about the nurse joys as far as I'm concerned.

I think it would work and be a lot more compelling then just Ash and his entourage. Having to do the battle multiple times would not be so bad. And the can collage and skip stuff. or Show one battle. Like say: Ash lost to the gym leader, so the group trains and when they are ready Ash trains more because he doesn't want to slow the others down. So we see Ash train while the other get their badges and then we watch Ash win. The show is about battling and Ash is the one battling and that over emphasizes Ash as a main character but this way we get to see all types rather then the same 5 over and over, and this gives us some options for favorites besides Ash.

So my Ideal group would be Ash and threeother trainers (I remember someone saying they like the four man set up of AG so they wanted 2 female and 2 males which I agree with but I can't see it.Maybe it got deleted). Not Hilda and Hilbert cause those would be temporary and there is not good reason for anyone to leave if they are all trainers other then they want to go to different regions.

so here is a five man band set up I would like:

The hero-Ash: we love this guy even if we have grown tired of him multiple times
The lancer- Paul: nuf said. He would still have a mean streak despite his change which would still exist
The smart guy-not a guy but new chick 1:She would be a female mix of Ritchie and Conway who are both really smart.
The big guy- also a girl new chick 2: She would be hilariously over aggressive (a bit of a sexist cliche but I like it)
The chick-not a chick but Satoshi : do you see the other loose cannons.
 
I would like it to be a group of 5: Ash, Brock, Misty, May & Gary; with Max, Tracey, Dawn, Iris, & Cilan apearing frequently. Also I would like the rivals (Except Gary of course), such as Paul, Conway, Barry, Trip, Drew, Harley, Kenny, & Ritchie to apper sometimes as well. I also want Gary to rebecome a Pokemon Trainer, and not a proffesor like his grandpa. Max will be 10 and travleing with Tracey and he will have gotten Ralts back; Dawn, Iris, Cilan, & Lyra will be traveling together. :)

Hm...actually, i've been fine with all of the groups (er....I should say I WOULD have been if Max wasnt a regular.....or Tracey....).

Even though I loved the original group, Im glad they changed it. Imagine all of the complaints if it was still Ash Brock and Misty in Best Wishes!

I think the dynamic calls for someone like Cilan or Brock, someone older who can provide nutrition for the group and has the common sense and time on his hands
to buy essentials and worry about berry's and stuff. The dynamic needs someone impartial, and focused. The female is either going to have a friendly rivalry with Ash or be best pals with him. Ash is a permanent fixture. No point in even considering a dynamic without him being in the center of it.

I like the the current trio. It's a huge improvement on the DP setup of let's make Ash and Dawn BBF's and screw the other guy >.>

I think the three roles are always going to pan out roughly the same but with Ash's bond to the female varying.
I think there could be extra characters added to the mix, like Max was. Because they aren't that crucial to the plot they can have any kind of personality imaginable.

Why go that far? There were already complaints about the trio back in Johto.

But I agree at this point new characters are the only thing that keeps the show fresh. I don't think Iris and Cilan would have been well-received if it weren't due to the fact that they came after Dawn/Brock respectively. We had sat through Brock for 13 years, and Dawn was a second female coordinator, so we essentially had nothing new in the DP trio.
 
Ash, new chick, somewhat older man who serves as the older brother/father figure for Ash, more than what Brock was.
