Hey!

I figured howdy would be a nice departure from the standard hello!

I'm the_may_fan - and as the moniker implies, I've always been a huge fan of May from the anime. Since there are thankfully places to elaborate on that point, I'll finish my brief introduction. Like a majority of the members here, I suspect, I grew up watching the Johto Journeys and watched the Hoenn series periodically. Although I clocked some impressive hours into the HG/SS games when they were released back in 2010, I largely hadn't kept up with the world of Pokemon. With the Ruby and Sapphire remakes being released, however, I thought it'd be fun to join a community of like-minded people. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and getting caught up as well - I'm a solid ten years behind in the world of Pokemon as far as the anime goes.

I'll try and get a nice avatar and sig up in good time - suggestions and help appreciated! For now, I'll be posting and trying to fill out all of my profile.

Hey everyone, thanks for the warm welcome! I really appreciate it. :)

I just checked out the characters and sagas section and needless to say I know I'll be posting in there quite a bit. Thanks for pointing me in that direction! I'm also glad to hear I'm not the only who's behind on the show. I watched a couple of episodes with Serena and new gang recently, but I'm still in the dark with what's happened after Season 9...which evidently is quite a bit. I also haven't played X or Y. Most people I know have given it mixed reviews, so hopefully the 6th gen. remakes of Hoenn will be received better. Would anyone recommend I pick up X or Y? I would, but I'm not sure whether it's worth my time with new ones coming out in November.

To be honest, I wouldn't enthusiastically recommend X and Y. It's okay, but the story isn't good and, well....ORAS is coming out so why waste the cash?
You're not really missing out on anything, so I suggest you wait ;)

If you think you can wait until November, then I would just suggest that route. It's cool seeing the new [good!] features, but since the Hoenn remakes should have everything you wouldn't be missing too much.

Welcome to the Forums the_may_fan! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome G50!

After reading the replies, it sounds prudent for me to wait until November for the 3rd generation remakes to be released. If the story is simply mediocre at best for X and Y and the good new features will be present in the 6th gen. remakes, then I don't think it's a tragedy for me to largely skip the 5th generation. I have everyone on the forum to help fill me in on what may confuse me! Thanks for the help farewell, friend and aliveatnight - I appreciate it.
