And from News Of The Weird:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency made a special announcement in October that it is once again safe to eat squirrels in New Jersey. It doesn't make sense at first, but here's their explanation: In January, EPA had discovered lead in tissue samples from local squirrels, but later said the lead might have come from defects in the sampling machine. News of the Weird got this from New York Daily News, 10-30-07

Why is that disgusting? People eat squirrels. End of story. No one would say anything if it was deer. Or even rabbits. They're safe now. I guarantee you they WILL be eaten.

...you people (minus GrnMarvl) didn't know that people eat squirrels?

Squirrels are basically rats with a good public image.

I don't get it either, but-hey, if you ever get a hankering for squirrels...

I understand people in the more rural areas of Indiana eat squirrel stew.

Also, I've read in Kentucky, people scoop out squirrel brains and eat them with eggs.

Yeah, I was offered squirrelburger once, but I turned it down because back then I really didn't think people ate squirrels.

People will eat anything, you know. I mean, they eat goat testicles in the Appalachian region. And I was shocked when I first watched anime to learn that Japanese ate octopus (though after seeing Azumanga Daioh, I want to TRY it now).

Hey, some folks find it disgusting we drink cow milk.

after seeing Azumanga Daioh, I want to TRY [octopus] now
I've had hot-roasted squid. It tastes like beef jerky. I've had cuttlefish. The same, but chewier. And I'm really interested in Takoyaki. But hey, you know that challenge from Survivor where they make people eat outlandish food? Most of that food is indigenous to the area.

I'll eat one. It can't be worse than rabbits right?

I think it's basically the same here with Kangaroo. It's common knowledge that people eat it, but usually you either like the idea and want to try it, or you retch at the very thought. I personally accept it and am fine with it, but I wouldn't for the life of me try it myself.

Let's not forget that cats and dogs are considered delicacies in parts of the world. One of the most horrifying things I've seen was a video of a live cat being skinned by a Chinese chef.

I think octopus might taste good, especally with salt.

Oh yeah! I know what I'm eating for Xmas dinner!

:D

Do people eat Chipmunks like they do squirlls?

I didn't even know people eat squirells. I wouldn't have thought there was much meat on them anyway...

squirrels are very tasty.

i've seen people eat alot weirder things than that.

watch one episode of "i'm a celebrity, get me out of here" and you probably throw up, if you think this is disgusting. crocodile anus anyone

and as for people eating things, humans will pretty much eat anything as long as they can catch it
