Shuukan Pokemon Housoukyoku Episode 09: "The Millenium Town Encounter"/"Meowth's Part-time Job Trouble!"
Pokemon Chronicles Episode 19: "Of Meowth an Pokémon"

Toonami UK, 4:30pm
Meowth takes a break from trying to capture Pikachu to spend time in Millenium City. But his dream project to build a golden statue gets off to a bad start when he loses his picnic basket in a series of mix-ups. And then to pay for it he gets some jobs, but makes the Pichu possé to do the work.

In Japan, this episode aired between the Pokemon Advanced episodes "All in a Day's Wurmple" and "Gonna Rule the School", (and between the Pokémon Chronicles episodes "The Blue Badge of Courage" and "Oaknapped")

I don't know what is going on with the titles. This episode is what we previously thought was "Big Meowth, Little Dreams"/"Peace'a Pizza Peace Pizzaz". Next week still seems to be "Trouble in Big Town" at the moment, (with Pichu Big and Pichu Little according to the Sky Guide,) but we'll see for certain next week...

My main gripe with Pokémon Chronicles has been the title cards. Apparently, Veronica Taylor is the only person who can do a good one. And Meowth is the worst at them!

Though saying that, the mouth movements on Teddiursa at the beginning hardly fit its voice. I'm smelling a bit of laziness there.

Now, calling origiri sandwhiches is something I can tolerate, but calling pizzas pies...?

And the second job Meowth is fired from is hardly his fault. Surely the architect should take the blame for that one!

Altogether, how badly did they F this one up? Because I swore to myself after LoT that if they screwed up the Meowth one, I would go to New York and personally beat all of the idiots down..

It's not that bad. They know Meowth, anyway, and all the characters have been seen before. There are no obvious breaks in Continuity either. (They didn't mention the name of the Town, though from what is probably the title of next weeks episode, it has changed.)

Oh good. (Guess I won't have to hit my parents up after all for the money..)

I would hope not, at least, because Maddie Blaustein wouldn't ever let them crap up an episode that kinda revolved around her character.

Nah I'd give that accolade to Ted Lewis, no passion!

Damn man, I really wanted to hurt that TeddiUrsa after eating all of Meowth's food and then smiling afterwards thinking it had done nothing wrong.

This episode wasn't anything special, nothing you wouldn't have seen in a Tom and Jerry cartoon with the exception of a water gun attack. It was quite fun nonetheless though, but quite predictable with Meowth thinking he would get away with everything.

In some of the ones Tracey appeared in, I think he did the "Putting The Air Back Into Aerodactyl!" one. Sounded like he was definitely reading that one of the script while doing it.

Possibly.

Now Tracey may have no passion, but Meowth just cuts into me!

I guess with Meowth's tough-talking Brooklyn accent. Sounds like watching an episode of Top Cat.

I just sat down and watched the first half of this episode for comparison purposes and...well, let's just say the editing's on par with "The Legend of Thunder."

This episode wasn't translated; it was reversioned.

Can they change a Pichu Brother special that much?

Besides changing the name of where they live and giving them individual names, I can't see how much they could actually do to it.

*Goes to rewatch the episode*

New Yorkers refer to pizza in one of two ways.

We call an entire pizza "a pie"
and a single slice of pizza "a slice"

I didn't think so either, but I was surprised when I saw that I had filled half a sheet of paper with notes for half the episode when it only took me 3/4 of a page to make all the notes for "The Search for the Legend."

So what did they change? Well, other than a bunch of random cuts and paint edits, the script was COMPLETELY rewritten. The line or two where Meowth talks about wanting to build a golden statue of himself is the same, but every other line is completely different from the Japanese version. There's also the fact that 4Kids took two unrelated short stories and tried to make them one longer story.

Mike Pollock also got absolutely ROBBED in this episode. This is one of the few episodes where the narrator is given the chance to have a lot of fun with his role, but the dubbed version completely removes him from the episode. It's unfortunate.

I'd go into more detail here, but I'll save that for the actual comparison.

Right. We do that in good ol Jersey too. Pizza Pie, or just a pie for short.

Okay Dogasu it's different, we get it, calm down. If it's still enjoyable I don't see what's wrong with it.
