When visiting, Professor Oak's ranch to ask for advice on his Eevee, Richie dicovers that Professor Oak has disappeared! After heading to the Seafoam Islands, they discover that Nanba, Cassidy, and Bob have kidnapped Professor Oak to get information about Pokérus...

In Japan, this episode aired between the Pokemon Advanced episodes "Sharpedo Attack" and "Brave the Wave."

Whoever is doing this must know about Master Quest! So why did they not remember "For Ho-oh the bells toll"?

Hmm...Richie as Professor Oak's nephew? I really want to know more about that family!

And is Veronica Taylor the only person who can do a decent title card? Tracey sounds so bland it is unbelievable! Presumably, Richie will do the one in "Celebi & Joy" in a couple of weeks, so maybe he can do it better.

A couple of inconsistencies with "Showdown at the Oak Corral": First, at the end of that episode, Professor Oak said that the Pokémon were the only security system that they would ever need. Now, he is installing a new one. Second, you would think Tracey would remember the Nidoqueen costume was used then! He seems to suffering from a lot of Amnesia lately.

Looking at the serebii pics, a load of scenes seem to have been mixed around for the dub. The transitions become awquard because of that.

Both were just one line that may or may not have been in the original. Eevee doesn't appear, but Richie says he wants advice on how to evolve it. And when convincing the guards to allow them into the building, Mary says that Tracey is Professor Oak's assistant. Then Tracey says, "and he's Professor Oak's nephew"...

Oh, well in that situation it sounds like a lie just to get Ritchie in the building.
 
I don't think a lie was really necessary, but I do believe that Richie isn't actually Oak's nephew. But with Gary as the only known family member, and the speculated links to Ash, it would certainly be interesting if that was the case.
 
Well, Richie and Gary both have red-brown hair, so who knows? :p

However, from what I made out from the original, then Kenji said that Hiroshi was a friend.
That is, if that's what "Tomadachi" means. Which I'm 100% sure about. =P
But the spelling....let's just leave that XD
 
You have to admire this episode for its pure stupidity, who couldn't laugh at Professer Oak the whole time? The whole group was pratically laughing at him! And oh yeah Butch's reactions were funny too when they f*cked up his name again like usual.

So his Tailow is now called "Rose" and there is a mentioning of Richie training an Eevee at present, but unbelievabley it's not mentioned in the Japanese version, so why did they do that? Maybe the writers will save them from embarresment give him an Eevee so it stops us moaning at them or something.

Tracey and Richie sounded the same as they always do, so no muckups from a the voice actors point of view.

So overall really great episode! Both the battling and humor, and perhaps seeing Professor Oak get owned a few times (hair getting set on fire etc lolololol!).

Uh, hello there Wing Gundumb, we've already established that Richie isn't his nephew and that it was just a ruse to get past the guards. Trying reading a skooch more into it next time.

Never did like Richie, or his Pokemon stealing antics.

Who said anything about maturity? He's just a loudmouth that needs better reading skills. It's enough the dub gets a bad rap for the stuff it does do wrong, why get upset and push the wrong info?

Just be nonchalant about it. Besides, I had to get that Gundumb joke some how!

Very well. I do not wish to start something. I offer my apologies to Wing Gundam and ask that he be more perceptive next time.

And since the next mature thing to do would be to get back on topic, I'll again express my dislike for handing out the same Pokemon Ash has to Richie. It's the same matter with May and her Bulbasaur and Squirtle. It's not that I hate the Pokemon, I simply don't approve of handing out the same species when there are many many more out there.

Agreed. I wish the Eevee was real so Ritchie's team wouldn't be so much like Ash's.

Anyway... while it seems to be clear that Richie isn't Oak's nephew, and another dub line to confuse us.. was the Eevee thing true though?

I doubt it is cause Eevee wasn't in the episode and I don't think it was mentioned before.
 
For all the reasons we could complain about 4Kids, a line about Richie having an Eevee, or Tracey clearly just pretending that Richie is Oak's nephew really isn't much.
