Shuukan Pokemon Housoukyoku Episode 13: "Team Rocket! The Origin of Truth and Love!"
Pokemon Chronicles Episode 13: "Training Daze"

9uuaex.jpg

Toonami UK, 4:30pm and 7:00pm
After being blasted off yet again, Jessie recounts how she met up with James and Meowth, and how they became members of Team Rocket.

In Japan, this episode aired between the Pokemon Advanced Challenge episodes "The Princess and the Togepi" and "A Togepi Mirage". The special that aired after this one in Japan, "Another Legend of Celebi!" aired last week in the U.K.

Post your thoughts about the episode here. Please mark any spoilers for episodes not that have yet to air in America in spoiler tags.

Team Rocket were really professional in this episode, showing them in a different light for once other than just being losers all the time. Jessie and James were really mature and worked hard through their training, caring for one another too, not to mention a a notable amount of RocketShipping, particularly when Jessie blushed after saving James from the pitfall (shown above). I liked the way they looked at wach other in that lol.

How many times was Butch's name mispronounced in this episode? About 15? Each one was different, including Bip, Bob, Bill and many others. I liked it when she did actually call him by his real name and then getting ****** for thinking she called him for something else heh.

Also Team Rocket's "Prepare For Trouble" song (the one from 2.b.a master) was played towards the end. Haven't heard that since the Orange Islands.

Seeing their competance here, I wonder what wold have appened if they had never gone to Viridian City when Ash was there. If they had the brains to go after other stuff, as Butch and Cassidy do, then they would be much more of a threat. Then again, Butch abd Cassidy have had a lot of losses lately...

On a different note...who wants to know Hajimi's dub name?

Gilbert!

Seriously? That's plain awesome. All the old music is enjoyable to listen to and I'm glad they had some sense to use the Team Rocket song for Team Rocket! Now, if only they would make some more new songs...

Oh good, they kept in the most awkward scene in the history of the Pokémon anime.

It never got into full flow though (singing wise anyway), just fluttering around the opening lines and stuff, but it was still good to hear still. Who thinks they'll play "Misty's song!" during the luvdisc's ep now? :p

So what did they call Viper?

I've heard Giovanni's voice isn't as deep as it usually is. Is it like in Puzzle League then? (as long as it's less jarring as his Japanese voice in Evolution Solution, it should be fine. Man sounded all of eighteen in that episode)

Viper was Viper, you'll be happy to know. In fact, he was Drill Sergeant Viper.

And yes, Giovanni's voice was not as deep as usual.

I think so. He didn't sound that different. I think he is credited in the end credits, but then I got that from the first DVD.

Any UK viewers reading this may want to keep their eye on Toonami over the weekend, since they have got back-to-back Pokémon Chronicles all day. As only 13 have currently aired, they should theoretically run out of episodes at 1:30 Since it goes on another four hours, there could be a new episode hidden in there.

Also, irony of ironies, if they start with "The Legend of Thunder", then that will clash with "Tie One On" over on Sky One!

I've heard so much bad talk about Cassidy's voice that I just gotta hear it myself. So anyone know any place where I can find some audio of her recent voice?

Drill Sergeant Viper makes me think of G.I. Joe. Doesn't mean it's a bad name though.

I'm glad to hear they kept that awkward scene too. I put it up to my fav. moments next to Grolithe sniffing Ash's crotch:).

*waits for dvd release*.........

. this sucks....

Wait what was the akward scene? When James fell on top of Jessie, or them butchering their pasts? Which by the way, did they talk about their past in this show?

The entire episode is flashback!

They don't really mention anything before Team Rocket. Meowth said it had always been his dream to join, but that was probably just to get the job.

OMFG I now have hope for this episode. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
I showed it to my friends, and they all agreed it would be cut. And I never thought they'd keep his name Viper! <3
Now I'm psyched about seeing this one again. Although I knew Cassidy wouldn't be the same. (Megan, you should have stayed for at least Cassidy... hehe.)

I assume she found a job, or a lead for a job or something b/c she should realize she'll probably never be famous. I'm not saying that b/c she sucks that she left the show, but b/c basically no one makes it. Especially if you aren't pretty. >.> Oh well... good luck on that Megan.

Why did the voice actress even leave?

Megan Hollingshead, the actress that did Cassidy and Nurse Joy, moved out West to California to pursue her acting more. She's done a couple voices for Geneon out there.

So I saw the episode today. I didn't notice Giovanni's voice being higher, although I noticed it sounded like he had a cold.

Cassidy's new voice sounded all right.

I really liked Viper's voice. He sounded very good and very natural at it. I think he was Mike Powell--any other thoughts?
