Pokemon Chronicles Episode 17: "Those Darned Electabuzz"

The Electabuzz have just suffered their tenth defeat in a row, as their star pitcher has been out of action due to a shoulder injury. Casey meets him and his Charizard, which has lost its ability to fly and use Flamethrower. Can she now restore the Electabuzz spirit into both of them?

In Japan, this episode aired between the Pokemon Advanced Challenge episodes "Relicanth and the Deep Sea Treasure" and "Huntail and Gorebyss! Evolution Mystery!" (which will air in English-speaking countries in the next few months.)

This was a good episode. Nothing much to report.

Casey apparently has a Rapidash and Magmar now. Though they apparently stay at Elm's lab with Pidgey and Rattata since she only seems to have the Pokémon in the picture above with her. (But why would she even want to give a bath to Pokémon made out of fire?)

Sky Guide seems to think that Casey is male, but they also seem to think that Brawly is a girl, (and only a mere new trainer to boot,) so that is probably nothing to worry about.

No one has been whining at the dub recently. People seem to be more bothered by the new Japanese episodes.

I see Don has kept his original name, (short for Lizardon.)

The Chronicles dub has improved since when it first started. (Raikou special, Brock special)

It's so nice to hear from someone who doesn't condemn the Raikou special to hell. I didn't have any major problems with it or the Brock special.

This episode was about morals and about a baseball player (and a charizard) who had to overcome bad form. It was a funny episode, Casey and her pokémon were light-hearted and silly which provided good humor for most of it. Not a lot to the episode that we haven't seen of before in a cartoon, but it's episode's like these that I'd watch again for it's stupidty.

Please, let's not bring up the ridiculousness of how much people have obsessed over a gender change that means absolutely nothing. Let's stay on topic.

Even *I* didn't think the Bashou --> Hun gender change was that big a deal. It's just another pointless edit.

I remember watching this Casey special in Japan and hating it, so I doubt I'll like it a second time around. Casey seems like such a random character to have a side story about (much like Sakura), and I don't see why she gets to appear in several of these Housous when other, better (in my opinion) characters don't get nearly the attention they deserve.
