Thanks to the many TF sites with representatives at Botcon, there's a LARGE mass of new information regarding the new cartoon. And...I'm liking it now.

First up, we have a cast list:
Autobots:
Optimus Prime
Bumblebee
Prowl ("like a ninja")
Ratchet (the grizzled veteran)
Bulkhead (apparently he's like the Fantastic Four's Thing)
Grimlock (a T-Rex)
Two "other" Dinobots (the three Dinobots are the "wild and crazy" members)
Decepticons:
Megatron
Starscream (voiced by Tom Kinney of Spongebob fame. Starscream has multiple personalities)
Blitzwing (like his G1 counterpart, he's a triplechanger)
Lugnut (like the Hulk, and similar in body-type to Ironhide)
A "jet of some sort"
Black Arachnia
Human cast:
Capt. Fanzone (...Fanzone? He's a police chief)
Sari and her father Isaac Sumdac (Sari's an outcast and turns to the Autobots as friends)
Human villains ("not typical" Apparently one's named Angry Archer (a play on the lead toy designer's name, I'm sure), one can "run fast" one can "spew acid")
One of the characters will have a "Tazmanian Devil"-type transformation-style.
The Autobots will have the Ark, and the Decepticons will have a massive Nemesis. Seems like they're drawing from G1 for quite a bit of this.
The toy line associated with the show was designed at the same time. They're very close in appearance to how they appear in the show ("90% accuracy").
They're ALREADY working on Season 2. And Season 3 and 4 are a possibility. It's also supposed to have a better airing time than the last series have had.
