With Hurricane Season 2006 only being a month away I say poor New Orelans.
The upgraded levees still ain't fully optirational which means one serious hurricane early in this season hitting Lousiana and New Orleans is in trouble.

As for the 2006 hurricane forecast here's what they're predicting

17 named storms
9 hurricanes
5 major hurricanes {Cat 3 or higher}

I say that there are going to be more named storms than 17 named storms but that's just me.

Discuss the upcoming 2006 hurricane season.

If it's anything like the 2005 season we may have to consult Dr. Seuss' book
'On Beyond Zebra!' for names! Seriously, STEP AWAY FROM THE COASTLINE.

BTW, a natural disaster is really ''Earth performs its standard, unthinking balancing act between hot and cold, wet and dry, stable and unstable, life and death. Humans get in its way, their work is unmade, Earth continues on unperturbed" (this doesn't sell very well, but 'Nature's Fury Unleashed' does)

If you guys are interested, there is a Hurricane Season Pool in the Ancora Imparo (science) forum.

And for the record - we had the first (that south-atlantic freak storm of Feb not withstanding) invest (an invest being essentialy what the Navy calls a meteorological system that bears watching and has potential for development as a tropical depression or worse) of 2006 just a few days ago. It didn'T develop, but still, vacation time is running out.

Wow! It sounds as if New Orleans is going to be bashed, again!
