Review HZ068: To a New Sky! Brave Asagi!!

Good to see Friede and the crew again with a nice warming up session for Liko and the crew. I've kinda missed this whole Heroes storyline so I'm excited to see the continuation of it especially if that banging opening intro is of any indication.

Also yaaay Zirc and Onia are back too. And Onia's love for Sprigatito is still as fresh as ever.

What a comeback episode following the previous arc with the trio battling the Heroes Pokemon owned by Lucius to test their strength and Terastal in order for the preparation of what to come. At the conclusion, where three of the remaining six heroes being snap shot by Perrin. Which what they about to find out at Kitakami.

Overall rating: B+

I think this was a really nice episode to start the season. Updates from every member of the crew, updated rooms, Tatsugiri.

I like that the Hero Pokemon have become friendly with Liko and others. They appear so rarely that we never really see their tamer personalities.

The battles were good. A nice way to show how much the kids have improved and also showed that the hero pokemon are incredibly strong. Also, nice details that they all faced the same type as their starters and all 3 had 1 super-effective move against the Hero poke.

I wonder what will Amethio be doing now.

I think this was a nice opening to the new arc. It was cute to see all of the Pokémon reuniting and surprising to now see the new ship upgrades and new Tatsugiri. I find it funny that the Tatsugiri wasn't even given their own filler episode to explain things, and it's now just that there are these new Pokémon here. I feel like one day we might get a flashback to explain that though.

Anyway, the battles against the hero Pokémon were nice to see. It's great to see how all of the Pokémon and trainers have grown, like with Liko continuing to make use of Floragato's vine techniques, Roy being able to more easily get out of tough situations with Crocalor and use his opponents tactics against them, and Quaxwell improving on his dance skills in battle. And of course, it's nice to see that they'll continue to make use of Terastal. I'm excited to see how things go as they head toward Kitakami. 8/10.

This was a good opening episode for the new arc. Now they have a Faster brave asagi + improvements everywhere! I liked all the new things. I liked that we got the hero pokemon to test the trainers and show how strong they’ve become, while battling in different battlefields (we haven’t seen that in a while). We received an update to Amethio’s, Conia and Zirk whereabouts. They decide to stay with Amethio, despite the fact they won’t be promoted within the explorers if they decide to do so. They are very loyal to him, I wonder if we will get an episode to explain their bond. At the end they are near Kitakami and Perrin photographed a mysterious pokemon, interesting. Looking forward to some answers in this next arc.

Sigh.......I'm gonna miss that last arc where the kids were out on their own, adventuring through Paldea. It actually felt like the good old days of the Pokemon anime! Can't say I was too into this episode though. The only good part was when they fought Lucius's Pokemon, and even that was spoiled by the fact that I just really do not care about this "Six Heroes" stuff anymore.

Agreed. The previous arc scratched an itch that I’ve been having since Journeys and it made it even more bittersweet to get back to this story that I don’t particularly care for because rather than feeling like a Pokémon plot, it just feels like a generic JRPG wearing a Pokémon skin. Also doesn’t help that we end up missing out on numerous aspects of Paldean lore like the Titan Pokemon, Paradox Pokémon, Koraidon/Miraidon and Ruinous Legends because they’re chasing a story that only marginally even pertains to Paldea.

The Brave Asagi has been upgraded, the kitchen renovated, etc. Each form of Tatsugiri has joined the crew. Liko battles Abolivia, Roy battles Galaran Moltres, and Dot battles Lapras. Our protagonists put up a good fight but don't quite manage to defeat the Heroes. The battles end with the Heroes returning to their Pokéballs at Terapagos' prompting. Sazare makes a last-minute appearance along with a brief glimpse of Kleavor.

Overall, a decent start to the arc.

Edit: also Zir and Conia decide to continue following Ametheo even though he was fired from the Explorers.

A pretty nice start to the new arc. It was good to see the RVTs again. I'm looking forward to how all these upgrades will come in handy the next time they get into trouble.

We finally get to see the three Six Heroes that we have again. It has been over a year since we last saw Arboliva and Moltres, and almost a year since we last saw Lapras. Of course, the kids aren't strong enough to beat them by themselves, but they all managed to get two solid hits in. Kleavor is definitely the next to be encountered, so I'm interested to see what its personality is like.

And I'm happy that we got another Gurumin video, I missed getting them every episode.

I feel like this episode would have worked soooooo much better as the final episode of "Terastal Debut" than it does as the first episode of "Rayquaza Rising."
