Preview HZ069: I'm a Pokémon and You're Me!?

Bit of an odd title lol.

Also I could be totally wrong but the Japanese title uses “boku” as the first-person pronoun in the sentence, so this is probably either a Roy or Dot episode since they use boku as their first-person pronoun when speaking?

Sounds like body swapping shenanigans. But, other than (insert random Psychic-type of your choice here), the only Pokémon that makes “body swap” come to mind is Manaphy and its Heart Swap.

Though I can’t remember, did Manaphy ever switch a person and Pokémon’s bodies in the movie? I seem to only recall humans being swapped with other humans. Maybe Meowrh was affected once.

More importantly, if someone really is switching with a Pokémon, will the Pokémon be able to speak human language or will they chicken out and still make them say their name. This could be one of those rare opportunities to hear a non-talking Pokémon speak.

Yes, those two are the only ones to use it.

What I find odd is that the title says "You're me" instead of "The Pokémon is me". I'm expecting a complex body swap (with at least 3 between swapped parties, meaning A is in B's body, B is in C's body and C is in A's body) if it is a body swap. I also wonder if other characters (Pokémon and humans) are swapped for their part (apparently, the boku-using character is Roy and not Dot because Dot rarely uses "kimi" as you). And it would also be the icing of the cake if the characters are switched again with other characters.

I don't consider one-character body changes as body swaps. So while Ash did turn into a Pikachu in Hocus Pokémon, I don't consider it a body swap as Pikachu stayed the same. So the first body swap in the Pokémon anime happened in M09 (2 swaps including a complex one; both don't happen at the same time and the first party was already switched back).

Also, some think that the Pichus messing with Cap are actually Liko, Roy and Dot. But it still doesn't explain who's "you". Maybe they use the Synchro Machine, which at first works as expected (the 3 humans synchronizing their minds with those of 3 different Pichus), but then the Machine goes awry and everyone present, including other human characters, have their bodies swapped around? I don't think the malfunction will result in only having the main 3 returning to the wrong body, as the Machine's function is described as synchronizing your mind with that of a Pokémon, not completely transferring your mind to a Pokémon's body while leaving your body unconscious behind.

I'm practically sure that "you" means that other characters are involved in the swap if it is, and that the one in Roy's body is a human. Because Japanese body swap episode titles are generally symmetrical (quite ironically, the XY episode title that had the appearance of a body swap episode title was actually just a normal switcheroo episode). I'm saying it once again, but if the Pokémon Roy is switched with was meant to be in his, then the second part of the title would have been "The Pokémon is me". And I wouldn't like it much if only the kids and Pokémon are swapped if it is a body swap episode.

Thinking about it a bit more, this could be a good opportunity for Liko to do more to obtain her goal of understanding Pokémon, with or without the Synchro Machine. I can imagine Liko becoming Floragato and be flustered about what is going on and Floragato becoming Liko and acting like a cat in a human body.

Great another rehashed episode of Ash adventure become Pikachu and now is Liko and Roy turn become Floragato or Crocalor appearances respectively. Truly, no creatively whatsoever. Unless, it something else.

When Ash became a Pikachu, it happened at the very end of an episode as a punchline.

The title alone confirms that whatever scenario is happening here is the main focus. Similar concept (or, at least that’s what the title suggests), but not a rehash.

Also, the title suggests it’s a body swap, which isn’t remotely what happened to Ash in that ep.

Truly, no creatively whatsoever. Unless, it something else.

Considering we’re lacking both a summary and visuals for the episode, I have to question how you came to the conclusion they’re being uncreative.

Human-Human and Pokémon-Pokémon relationships do exist in Pokémon Horizons, even with non-main cast members (like Dot with her mother). I’ll be disappointed if it’s just humans in Pokémon bodies and Pokémon in human bodies; even though I suspect that there will be a complex body swap (with at least 3 characters in the same swap instead of just 2) if there is, as the title implies that the character in Roy’s body is human because like I already said, if it was otherwise the rest of the title would have been "The Pokémon is me".

Because of the similar concept, you say. Same story will be featuring this episode except with different characters going to experience. If is not uncreative. I'll don't know what I should describe.

Summary courtesy of Dephender at Serebii

The Rising Volt Tackler shave come to the Land of Kitakami to meet with Terapagos researcher Briar, and decide to participate in a festival being held there. But when Roy and Achigator accidentally touch a machine set up at stall, they end up switching bodies?!

If it’s just a 2-character swap, then why isn’t the other half of the title "The Pokémon is me"? I think it makes no sense. It should have either been "I’m you and you’re me" or "I’m a Pokémon and the Pokémon is me".

In any case the summary is vague. Are Roy and Crocalor the only concerned (at least at first) or is every RVT swapped as well?
