Review HZ070: Kanuchan's Hammer Wasn't Made in a Day

Aaaand there she is! Tinkatuff is here! :D And on top of evolving, it looks like I got my wish and Tinkatuff did indeed learn a new move, with that move being Play Rough, an excellent move for her to have! (y) (Now she just needs a Steel type move........Maybe that won't happen until she evolves again into Tinkaton?)

And with that, all the group's Pokemon that can evolve have done so now at least once! (y)

(I gotta ask, though.........why was Friede with them? Like, did he even need to be there? :hmm:)

I overall enjoyed this episode. It was nice to see another episode focusing on Tinkatink. Her personality is adorable and always nice to see. I'm happy that she was able to evolve and even learn Play Rough, and hope Tinkatuff will be able to do more in the future. I also really liked seeing a wild Terastallized Pokémon too. For everything they've shown off of SV mechanics, it's interesting how this is the first time we've really seen this as a major point of a plot so that was also nice. Bombirdier fit it's dex description to a T and seeing Dot challenging it made me think of the Open Sky Titan. Kind of makes me wish the Path of Legends plot was incorporated into Horizons.

My biggest issue with this episode is that I wish Tinkatink would have done more prior to this episode to make her evolution seem more earned. This is a Pokémon with only one real battle to her name, where she lost pretty quickly at that. It would have been nice to see her grow and develop to build up her hammer and become less of a crybaby before this episode, but again, this has been a consistent critique of mine regarding the non partner Pokémon on the main cast.

Minor elements which annoyed/confused me where Dot just spamming Water Gun with Quaxwell and overall them both feeling oddly less competent for the sake of plot. Also Crocalor loosing his egg only for us to never see him get it back seemed unnecessary. Lastly, I feel like this episode could have just been Liko, Roy, and Dot. It's just odd how they went through the whole arc of them learning to be on their own and independent in the previous arc, but then go right back to throwing Friede into the mix once we move to this one.

All of that to say, good episode, but it could have been stronger had Tinkatink had more development prior to it. 7/10.

This episode can be considered alright and annoying. Due to the fact, Tinkatink non stop crying of wanting upgrading her hammer on the plate by Bombirdier luring her to it nest. Thanfully, she finally evolve into teenager as Tinkatuff and can save some trouble for awhile by Dot. In order for not break metal stuff like cooking pot and frying pan. Otherwise, the whole crew will have to buy from outside to eat. On top of that, the battle segment is beautiful as Bombirdier can Terastal power up alongside with it buddy joining up against Dot. How careless of her that the Orb got lost after got hit by Rock Slide. Other than that, the evolution of Tinkatink is what never give up occur after Quaxwell beaten so badly.

Overall rating: B+

Bombirdier are such trolls lol. The episode had many fun moments, I wasn’t expecting Tinks evolution to be so dramatic. This episode focused a lot more in pokemon interactions, such as Tink exchanging objects with Timburr. I also noticed Orla & Ludlow had some interactions with their pokemon, which we don’t get to see very often.

Funny scenes as it follows:

I gotta say, I think Bombirdier is my second-favorite bird Pokemon from Gen 9 after Killowattrel! (y) And after seeing it here in this episode, I think I like it even more!

Actually, I like all the avian Pokemon introduced in Gen 9, they're all really cool! :D

(Well actually........I take that back, I'm not too crazy about two of them. Can anybody here guess who those Pokemon are? :p)

Really liked this episode. That moment where Tinkatink was desperately trying to move her new hammer was really good. The music in particular, have we already heard it in the series?

And so Tinkatink evolves faster than Fuecoco (and maybe Sprigitito too). They really are starting to team build.

Ah, remember the days when a 10-year-old already had a full built team... Those weren't the days.

I liked this episode a lot and enjoyed Tinkatink getting so much focus and the character development/building she got.
There were a lot of interesting wild Pokemon you don't often see, like Magcargo or Chimecho, so that was fun.

Hopefully now that they evolved into Tinkatuff, she'll get more screentime, but that hasn't been the case for Hattrem or Kilowattrel. I'm surprised they gave Tinkatuff Play Rough, considering they didn't give Kilowattrel anything when it evolved. And they're already teasing Tinkaton with Tinkatuff wanting to make their hammer even larger. I'm guessing it'll be some time considering she still struggles holding her new hammer as it is.

In fairness, I don't think viewers would enjoy seeing Liko getting brutalized by Hattrem on a regular basis.

Now sure why they shafted Kilowatrell like that though.

It its worth noting that the dwarfette pokemon line has been one of Paldea's more popular mons, so we might be seeing more of Tinkatuff anyway.

Liko's Hattrem hasn't been shown to be particularly aggressive towards her at all. She has only attacked Pokemon to calm them down and heals them afterwards.
