Definitely at the end phase for the Rayquaza arc since this is probably where the clips for Rayquaza's encounter comes from with the preview.

Wonder if this is where the shiny dragon joins the crew or if it's gonna fly off once again.

The point is that Ho-Oh is associated with the rainbow. When it flies, its wings always shine with rainbow colors.
Well, hopefully, it's just a coincidence rather than any connection to Ho-Oh

Not that I have anything against the Johto Box Legendary (I actually do have a soft spot for it for obvious reasons). But, this series has been playing rather fast-and-loose when it comes to Legendaries. Rather than make use of the Gen 9 Legendaries, which at this point still carry intrigue to fans since it's still the "new" thing, it chooses to throw ones from past Gens and more or less go against their lore and such. It's honestly been rather exhausting and it makes their importance feel rather mundane when they're owned by someone (Lucius with Rayquaza? Gibeon with Zygarde? And, despite being from the current gen, Lystal/Liko with Terapagos? ....They all just feel less impactful since it's all for the sake of plot rather than a full testament to skill. Like, besides Terastralization, having the MCs own a Legendary is like the one game element they wanted to implement into this series. ....And it's honestly not one of the more fun ones for some when they play)

Plus, with how much this series tries to seperate itself from the previous run of the anime and how much of a staple Ho-Oh was to the Pallet Town protagonist, having Ho-Oh be involved in this story would feel like they're trying too hard to make things seem superior. Especially if they make it so someone were to own one

I wonder if the rainbow actually refers to the Stellar Tera Jewel. It's not quite a rainbow, but it does have a variety of colors with the rotating type gems rotating around the crown.

Doubtful considering that Roy’s goal in this series is to battle Rayquaza. I don’t see Rayquaza joining them until we reach the endgame stage of the series.

Summary, courtesy of Dephender.

The Black Rayquaza once again appears before Liko, Roy and the others, and they all challenge it to a battle together in order to gain its approval! However, despite incorporating the terrain to great effect in their combo attacks, they gradually end up driven against the wall by the overwhelmingly powerful Rayquaza! Liko's wishes... Roy's desire... What's going to happen to them at the end of this fierce battle against the last member of the Six Heroes?!

And.......are they actually using their other Pokemon besides their starters in battle?!? What blasphemy is this??

All kidding aside.......sure took 'em long enough! Let's see if they actally last that long in the battle though. Based on the preview and Hattrem seemingly being knocked out/hurt badly pretty quickly, I'm betting........not long. (With the exception of maybe Tinkatuff, since she's immune to Rayquaza's Dragon type moves.)

If this really is the final confrontation with Rayquaza, all I will ask is this:

Please, writers, give Roy this victory. Rayquaza may have been Lucius' Pokemon and Liko may be his descendant, but she really does not need this win. She gets to hold onto every other hero, she got to catch Terapagos simply because of the bond they've made and it being passed down like an heirloom, she got to have an adventure early on before even figuring out a goal, comes from a well-off family, was fortunate enough to live a story book event and meet her ancestor(s), deliver the deciding blow to a Regional Champion's (secondary) ace, have a group of stans so enamored with her, they want her to have every major development and/or win, force many to refrain from voicing anything negative about her, forbid any mentioning of her predecessor (....Ironic given that those same stans are the ones who mention him more than others as a means of defending her), and more. In short, whether she truly struggles or not, she simply wins at life

Roy's been working towards proving his worth to Rayquaza since his introduction and his progress has been just as good as his companions. But, he's still seen as a nuisance or the weakest character to certain fans (Seriously, if you ever see complaints about this series, they're usually biased ones aimed at him). He may have no in-depth connection to the Rakua plot, but he's made a place for himself in this story, has more than earned his place among the RTV's, and is someone worthy of Rayquaza's notice just by his drive alone. He may not share Lucius' blood, but he does have a spirit and energy similar to the hero. Some say even more than Liko has even now. So, please, let him, Crocolar, and Killowattrel have their time and be the one's to recapture the Shiny Dragon-type. It's the main thing going for him right now and he deserves it

As for a minor hope for this episode, I hope that we get the answer as to what that shiny aura is around Rayquaza. There is some speculation, and I do wonder if it ends up being true. But it would be nice to know what was making this Rayquaza so different from all of the others.
