Review HZ119: Give it Your All, Achigator - For the Sake of Tomorrow

Hi Crispin, Amarys and Kieran.
Bye Crispin, Amarys and Kieran.

What an epic episode for Crocalor evolve to Skeledirge following the battle against Drayton with a rematch. Look like, it no longer our lovely Crocalor anymore. But fearsome Skeledirge that won't easily get knockout due to it bird on his head.

Overall rating: A-

"The fiery bird changes shape when Skeledirge sings. Rumor has it that the bird was born when the fireball on Skeledirge’s head gained a soul." Kudos to the episode showing that bird hatch before the evolution and actually giving that cute thing a voice of its own.

So ends the Blueberry Academy arc. I would have liked to see it last longer, but what can you do I guess? The battle was rather enjoyable, though I am surprised that Drayton didn't do more combo moves like he did in the first battle. I am glad that Kilowattrel was more than just fodder in this battle, even blocking an attack for Crocolar. I am sure that Skeledirge will eventually learn Torch Song (maybe after going back to it and Roy 's singing roots). Otherwise, I am glad that we got to see a Dragon Tera type and Roy winning a battle after a losing streak. Now, please give the other characters more battle focus.

Pretty cool episode. I don't have too much to say about this one though, other than I too think this is funny how the other elite 4 and Kieran appeared just for 1 frame... so we have their existence completely confirmed haha
I actually quite understand that sence of urgency Roy was feeling, the 6 Heroes are suffering, so it is not like the Volteccers have time to waste. It does make sense that they leave BB after getting what they needed there.
I am quite hyped for the next episode.

Another battle episode after which we put the Liko-Ann ship back into the dry dock, nip in the bud the you're-like-my-brother dynamic between Dot and Carmine (and right after we confirmed on a single frame that Kieran is actually on site), remove another caring young lady from Uruto's life (ok, a long-distance relationship is not exactly "removing") and worst of all - yank away Briar's hyperfixation object from her hands. At least Roy got some satisfying closure for his relationship with Drayton. At first I was skeptical about the Blueberry arc, then we got a neat ensemble of supporting characters so right when I felt convinced that the "isolated training" arc may have been a good idea... yeah, it's done.

Achigator Loudbon is really lucky that Roy's second Pokemon is a muscular birb and the whole bunch is all too enthusiastic about cosplaying a Charizard who farts fire. He can fulfill his dream of flight with cheers and support from his mates :bulbaLove:

Also I love the idea of Yamirami as Uruto's emotional coach. The purple goblin is wholly into the idea of "getting mega-strongest together" but he also gets that this relationship goes both ways and Uruto also needs to fight his toughest battles... like for example saying Thank you to a woman.

Great battle, although I am shocked that we're getting Laudbon now rather than closer to the end. The show doesn't have a great history with Pokémon that can't run about easily (Satoshi's Cotoise and Dodaitose spring to mind) so I'm interested to see how the show handles the big croc.

Also very amused that the fire bird on Laudbon's head had a brief 'pre-evolution', but very glad it has its own personality. Fully expecting an episode where it storms off at some point.

Next Week, Dot and Penny are tasked by Cervantis to spy at the Exceed, do they have what it takes to Stop those nasty Explorers, Stay Tuned
Same Poke-Time, Same Poke-Network

This was top 5 hz battles it was creative and fun and a good character moment for all involved :wynaut: I really appreciate that it was liko who encouraged roy to actually relax and battle drayton, it makes sense considering she's the best at reading other's emotions and I like when that's shown as a genuine benefit to her friends :yay:

The remix of the area zero battle theme was stellar :)wynaut:), also seeing kieran/amarys/crispin get arven'd was really funny LMAO

anyway DOT MAID NEXT EPISODE :bulbaCute::bulbaCute:
especially excited because it'll have more of dot and penny's dynamic and it'll have more of dot and agate's dynamic and those both are gonna make for some really fun interactions I hope

This was a nice episode!

It was nice seeing Kilowattrel be a vital part of the battle, even if he did get knocked out later on. At least they beat Kingdra first!
I do wonder how the flying aspect will change now that Skeledirge is over 700 lbs. Maybe Kilowattrel will perch on Skeledirge's back now?

I do wish BB academy went a little longer seeing how Dot didn't really get a focus episode, but at least she'll get one next week with Penny at that!

Seeing Kieran, Amarys and Crispin getting a silent cameo appearance made me both happy and sad. Happy because they showed up, but sad because that's all they're getting...

We get a confirmation that it is, in fact, Pokémon with each Tera Type that are needed to power up Stellar Terapagos. Roy decides they've done enough training, and our heroes decide to leave, although Liko makes Roy take a few deep breaths first. Kakitsubata challenges Roy to a battle, and Liko talks him into accepting. Crocalor and Kilowattrel vs Archaludon and Kingdra, Kilowattrel does well and even defeats Kingdra (with assistance from a Crocalor flamethrower engine), but is defeated as well, saving Crocalor from an attack. Roy even comes close to remembering that he's supposed to be the cheerful kid who loves singing (although he doesn't quite break into song just yet). Crocalor then evolves into Skeledirge and defeats Archaludon, although it seems like it's going to be a draw for a bit. Also, the Blueberry Elite 4's remaining members and the champion make a quarter-second cameo (which may be crueler than neglecting them entirely).

Everyone says their goodbyes, and Dot contacts Crave to discuss stealing information about Rakurium from Exceed. It turns out that there is a data center hidden in Exceed's company museum, and Dot recruits Botan to help break in and hack it. Despite her experience in criminal activity in the games, Botan is quite surprised by this. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for monogamous LikoDot fans, they leave before the LikoAnne subtext can escalate further (alternate title for HZ118: LikoAnne, A Bond of Yuri). Personally, I think there is much more than enough room for LikoDot and LikoAnne, so I wish they'd have stuck around longer, but the plot demands they move on.

I liked Draytons phrase when he terastallized his pokemon. “Boil, blood of dragons! Rule over all!” Skeledirge looks cool animated and the anime made me realize that the bird on the top has a soul? Interesting, since I never bothered to read the pokedex description I didn’t know about it until
now.

118 Long episodes (surprisingly shorter than I'd expect) and we finally have it. Skeledirge, is in the building! (and he looks really good in animation)

Even excluding my character bias, I think this was a really good episode as a whole.

Briar, confirms that it is indeed, Tera types that will be required to purge Laquium, and not just standard typings, but not only that, The Pokemon used will need to be at least on par with the Six Heroes in terms of strength. Wow. I'm sure that leaves no room for speculation at all /j. Though seriously, that leaves me to wondering, since there are a few overlaps between the Pokemon the kids own, unless they start changing tera types, or the unknown ones are different than expected.
Upon hearing the tea, Roy immediately tries to leave, but is snapped out of it by the rest of the group (and by "group" I mean Liko walked him through it, while Ult kinda just kept saying the equivalent of "Mhm" in the background, which was funny). Drayton walks up with his ultimate dudebro energy and requests a battle, which after some encouragement, Roy accepts. And-

WHAT. WHAT? WHAT?! Kieran, my boy, you were here the whole time? WHERE WERE YOU 4 EPISODES AGO?!
Nope, no, this is irrelevant, moving on.

This was a really good battle, it just manages to crack top 3 for me. It just felt very... complete. Idk how to describe it, it was just perfectly satisfying for a myriad of reasons.

Like competent Kilowattrel usage for one, which is something we haven't really seen in a trainer battle since Liko vs Roy.
And the music placement was incredible this time around as well, every battle theme was used to incredible effect.
As well as the evolution, to cap everything off.

All in all just a really great episode that I really enjoyed, and with that, the Blueberry Academy arc seems to be concluded. It was shorter, but definitely packed with important moments. My main criticism I have with this arc is that it really didn't have any major Dot focus at all (I just like Dot ok?) but that's set to be rectified next episode! I do wish Blueberry Academy stuck around a little longer, but you can't deny what it's already given, so I'd say I'm content with it.

it was so exciting to see skeledirge finally appear!! i enjoyed this episode but i'm pretty excited to get back to some actual plot progression. i've got a lot of thoughts floating around in my head about how the 18 tera type thing is going to play out as well
