Review HZ129: The Black Rayquaza, Time for the Showdown

What an epic episode for the conclusion of this month for Roy capture Black Rayquaza that fulfilling his dream since the start of the series. On the contrary, I'll was right that briefcase contain Meteorite that will make Rayquaza to Mega Evolve.

Which we all knew going to become Ultimate Trump card to destroy the Laquium core at Laqua. When the confrontation comes. Kinda felt sad for Uruto.

This was a pretty good episode! I may be mistaken, but I think Roy immediately released Rayquaza after catching it? It makes sense to me that way at least; the whole "catching Rayquaza" thing was more symbolic than anything (showing Roy's growth as a Trainer/showing that his goal was achieved), and his team is already plenty strong as it is, with a mega and his starter.

Speaking of Lucario, jeez... the guy can't catch a break. His W-L ratio looks absolutely terrible at this point. '^^ well, we know he's got some kind of strength upgrade coming up, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

I'm excited for the subs to come out so I can learn more about Ult, too! This episode had a lot to say about him, it seems.
 
Roy now owns the Rayquaza as he still has the Ancient Ball that didn't fall into the fissure, th is shown in Episode 113 and it makes sense today
 
I was hesitating to post my thoughts after this episode, because they are more than a little speculative. But whatever. That whole "Uruto is an adventurer's son" gave me strong vibes of hinting that there could be a whole next arc about him going in his father's footsteps. From the main kids cast, Everyone else's wishes came true, except his.
Time will tell.
 
Roy's battles are always full of BS. Looking forward to the next episode because this was not it.

remember in episode 113: Mega Evolution - Ult, Roy show Rayquaza's Ancient ball to Ult
 
The Ancient Poké Ball is pretty much just a paperweight now. They showed that they stopped functioning/released the Pokémon inside when Lucius died. It still has symbolic value to Roy, but he has no reason to catch Rayquaza in it. Who knows if it even still works?

roy had rayquaza's ball since episode 4 and it reacted to pagogo (when it was a pendant) in episode 6

Those kids are broke though, they would not be able to afford it unless Nanjamo decided to give them a present
 
So, I do like that we got a bit more info about Ult's father Salt, but it almost seems like they are giving Ult this backstory as a consolation prize. I really do enjoy the interactions between Rayquaza and Pagogo. It goes to show that they are really close to each other. The battle looked pretty good, but I was expecting all of Roy and Ult's Pokémon to battle all at once. We get the foregone conclusion of Roy catching Rayquaza. But I have to be honest: I feel bad for Ult because he doesn't see to get anything of substance. Otherwise, Roy seemingly releases Rayquaza after it gets caught up out has been going on for the last year by Pagogo. An otherwise fine episode that I thought would have happened a little later.
 
I'm so happy that Roy finally caught Rayquaza. That just puts the biggest smile on my face! I've been following this boy's journey from the beginning and he finally fulfilled his dream. Genuinely making me tear up with joy. :)
Although, that wasn't the thing that made me happiest about this episode.
The preview gave me the most amount of joy, I gushed about it in the preview thread of HZ130.
This episode was mostly just a nice, cool battle! I do think that like, I wish the animation was better and I wish Liko had more to do (I think she was only here to bring Terapagos).
Salt, Ult's dad, sucks though lol. Like bro, your kid was homeless. Idk, maybe we'll learn more about him and see why he couldn't help Ult when he was homeless, but atm he just seems like a terrible father.
We don't have much info on him yet though.
Loved Ult being a little gremlin this episode too!
Overall, I don't think this was the best Rayquaza battle bc the one where Sprigatito evolved into Floragato was peak, but this was still really good!
 
Loved this episode. The fight was good, Roy and Ult used all their Pokemons one by one, and they were pushing each other to do better. At the start I thought they were going to be in competition for the Rayquaza and step on each other's toes, but they were way more in synch than expected. Ult used for the second time his signature move of Twister + the opponent's attack, Kilowattrel had a good showing, and seeing Lucario punch meteorites super fast was great! And Skeledirge at full power rightfully finished this.
Roy reached the end of his dream... while Ult lost his, but found himself another goal, and that was really cool. Good character moments!
 
Why does Ult's dad sound like the Horizons/Dragon Tamer version of Byron with his love of holes and digging?
