Preview HZ138: Enter the Fake Rising Volteccers!?

They have not suffered enough since Friede was alive this whole time and I think it’s the writers saying “we apologize for not being more adult like with death but nvm” I guess karma is an excuse
But I’m not making an joke about this one.. I’m still salty about when Friede was revealed to be alive

I think now that the RVTs are publicly acknowledged as heroes, there are people who are either going to pretend to be them out of admiration, or capitalize on their good reputation to try and deceive people.

The glimpse we got of two of their doppelgangers showed that they have Mega Raichu X and Y respectively, and each of them were forming an X and Y pose with their body. I wonder if that will have any significance or not.

If we do get an actual battle in this episode, here is hoping that Liko and Dot get to battle since the preview showed us Liko and Dot lookalikes that both use a Mega Raichu.

Liko and Dot will not have mega evolution, nor will they have two Raichu because they are imposters, they are not Liko and Dot.

Lovely, even some random imposters can get access to Mega Evolution, but not the real Liko and Dot. Truly a baffling decision from the writers.

Personally, I am willing to forgive it if Liko and Dot get the capability to Mega Evolve some Pokémon. But, I can't really say that until the girls get a Mega Evolution each.

Horizons already has an issue with giving the Pokémon that the cast already have enough focus and development, so giving Liko and Dot an extra Pokémon just for the sake of them having Mega Evolution (and I don't think whether they have one or not has any significance) would have only made that problem worse (everyone has already complained about Lucario not being developed enough). Especially since they were moving toward the conclusion of the Raqua storyline after the time-skip, meaning they began to focus much more on progressing the main story and less on developing individual Pokémon. And it isn't like they didn't catch anything new either, they caught Charcadet and Gimmighoul (and evolved them both) respectively after the time-skip.

I think it made sense that Liko and Dot both retreated inward after the disappearance of Friede, whereas Roy kept adventuring and had the opportunity to achieve Mega Evolution when considering each of their personalities in the face of what happened their first time in Raqua. If anything, I think it is more likely for them to obtain Mega Evolution now that the Raqua storyline is over and they are seemingly going to keep the series going for however long it will take for Winds & Waves to release, and they'll all probably catch at least one more Pokémon each in that timeframe.

This isn't pointed toward anyone in particular but in general it feels like some people think the writers genuinely have it out for Liko and Dot by not giving them a Mega Evolution, or that they're sexist for not doing so, when it likely just has to do with their character development and timing in the story. I actually feel as though they have greater freedom to develop both the RVTs and their Pokémon without a traditional shonen-esque world-ending story going on overshadowing them.

It doesn't have to be "just for the sake of them having mega evolution". Liko wants to understand pokemon and exploring mega evolution and how it affects them ties in nicely with that. Not to mention that having mega evolution could've been useful to defend herself against those who posed a threat to her. Dot can use megas in her videos to get more views because it is a popular phenomenon and to battle as well. There are many reasons for characters to get mega evolution. It is very jarring to see everyone and their mother getting the gimmick minus her and Dot in particular. One could argue that Friede didn't need two megas since they barely did anything, specially Charizard, yet I don't see anyone saying he needed a reason to have megas, he simply does and everyone is fine with it, but ofc Liko & Dot "need a reason".

After they reunited, there has been plenty of time to get mega evolution if the writers wanted to give them one. In fact, Master Mayonnaise handed over mega bracelets to Roy and Ult rather quickly and it didn't take them a year to master it. Lucario mega evolved even before Roy caught it. Dragonite mega evolved even though Ult didn't train him at all. So this idea that Liko and Dot can't do it because they were stuck elsewhere for a year or because there wouldn't be enough time to do so is nonsense and quite frankly I haven't read anyone advocating they needed to do so during the timeskip, but there has been plenty of time since then.

If I hadn't said what I said you wouldn't have written that essay so please don't say this isn't in response to anyone in particular, it's obvious you were bothered by my comment. Otherwise, why would you write that in this particular thread?

Anyway, I'm not interested in arguing so this will be my last post on the matter.

Summary and Staff list courtesy of Dephender at Serebii

News of the Rising Volt Tacklers helping people has become the talk of the town all over... however, Liko and the others have absolutely no idea what these stories are referring to. Could there be impostors around...? The group head off to investigate in order to find out what's going on... and believe it or not, while they're asking around for information, they discover a second Brave Asagi?! Just who are the Fake Rising Volt Tacklers...?

Screenplay 松澤くれは (Kureha Matsuzawa)
Storyboard 尼野浩正 (Hiromasa Amano)
Episode Director 高藤聡 (Satoru Takafuji)
Animation Director 新岡浩美 (Hiromi Niioka)
Animation Director 升谷有希 (Yuki Masutani)

Let me guess...those stories will be cooler than what we actually got, won't they? <_<

I can't help but imagine a universe where Team Rocket would be behind this
I can even picture the fake Brave Olivine being the Meowth Balloon (poorly) disguise...

If it weren't for the Mega-Raichus this would be the kind of scheme the TRio would do.
