a new member. The handle I go by is Vairadeya. People I know call me V (it has nothing to do with the movie... I've never seen it, honest) since that is easier to say than the former.
To explain myself: I am 24 and have been a fan of the Pokemon series for a long time back. My first knowledge came from a friend who showed me an article about the hot new game in Japan, Pocket Monsters. This article described the game in depth from the catching to the raising to the *gasp* evolving into other monsters. I was hooked. When I got to the end of the article it mentioned that (wonder of wonders) Nintendo had plans to send the game to the US market next. From that moment forward I kept my eyes open for any news of this wonderful game. I watched the first episode of the anime when they aired it here and was right there in the store on release day where I got the most wonderful thing in the world, a copy of Pokemon Red. To quote a song, "I played it 'til my fingers bled." The moment I finally beat the elite four was euphoric. Of course, life went on... I got older and missed out on the other games. One day I saw a friend playing Diamond. Tentatively I asked, "Is that... Pokemon?" In deed it was. I watched the game play. The new design, the new monsters, everything had me hooked again. I bought a DS and a copy of Pearl and I haven't looked back since. Now I'm working my way through Heartgold and experiencing all the fun I missed through the years. It's just like spending time with an old friend.
TL;DR... I'm an old pokemaniac who was there at the beginning and rediscovered my love of the game as an adult.
Bulbapedia has helped me out with these new games in so many ways these past couple of years. I finally realized I should join the forums and try to give a little back.
