First of all, I must say that I am one huge procrastinator. I've been lurking around this site for a few years (ever since I found out about Bulbapedia), but I never bothered to sign up for an account. Though this is mainly due to the fact that I am already active on one other forum and I didn't want to get "too busy". I suppose that fact combined with procrastination made me take forever to finally sign up. Maybe also because we just moved into our new house and I'm bored as well...
And not only that, but I've waited five days to make this initial thread announcing my joining the Bulbagarden Forums (more procrastination yay... ><). But I must also blame the arcade for being really addictive, it says on my profile I spent almost eight hours playing games. :scared: But I am an arcade buff and just love simple games to keep me preoccupied.
I guess you all would like to know a little about me, hm? Warning, TLDR material ahead that you may not care about because I'll be rambling about myself. :dizzy:
Well, I first got into Pokémon way back in 1998 when I was about seven years old. However, the infamous "Pokémon Ban" came soon enough and my parents took my games, cards, VHS episodes, and anything else Pokémon-related away from me. Honestly, my parents never told me why they did this, they just said "Pokémon is bad" as far as I can remember.
Then sometime when I was in 7th grade IIRC, I saw a used Pokémon Gold Version that was in one of those glass display cases they have at GameStop. I asked my mom if I could get it because I had really great memories of Pokémon when I was younger. While I expected her to say "no", she surprised me and said "Alright fine, I think you're old enough". Even today I do not know her reasoning behind the decision she made. Most parents banned Pokémon either because it was addictive, or the more popular reason of it being accused of having ties with satanism. For all I know, she could have initially thought that Pokémon was giving me nightmares when I was younger (which it wasn't anyway), and then that I was older I wouldn't be prone to nightmares. But eh, whatever.
Since then, I found out that I was able to watch Pokémon episodes and collect cards without my parents throwing a fit. Recently, about a year ago, I decided that I would watch every single episode of the Pokémon anime since I missed out on a ton of episodes way back then. Unfortunately a lot has been spoiled for me, which is why I'm trying really hard not to pay attention to Season 14 until I finish the Diamond and Pearl saga with Dawn. Currently I'm on episode 430 or somewhere around there - the final season with May.
Of course, my avatar comes from I believe Black/White episode two. I have heard that the new season had stunning visuals and was even made in high definition. Because of this, I couldn't resist and watched the first three episodes; of course, now I've sworn off watching Black/White until it's time to watch it, like I've said earlier.
Pokémon has been, and always will be a huge part of my life. My dream is to work for Nintendo in the game design department and get transferred over to Japan from NOA HQ. Perhaps I could then apply with Game Freak since they are separate companies and all. Though this would mean I would have to stop working with Nintendo since I can't be in two full-time corporations at once, but Nintendo shouldn't mind much hopefully...
Luckily for me, at least getting to work at Nintendo of America is somewhat likely. I've been studying C++ for quite a while now and have even been accepted into DigiPen Institute of Technology. For those that don't know, DigiPen until up to last year, has shared part of NOA's building for their institute. DigiPen and Nintendo have always had a great relationship, and many students that want to work for Nintendo and have done good in their studies will find themselves actually working for Nintendo.
As of last year, DigiPen decided to expand, and because they were already taking up too much room at NOA, they decided to move a few streets over into an empty building which Microsoft used to own.
And that's pretty much it for my introductory thread, and now that I've finally gotten this over and done with, I'll have to work on my procrastination problem so I don't make only like one post a day.
And yes, I've read the rules and pretty much every announcement/sticky thread at least three times over over the entire time I've been lurking, so no worries about me going around and peeving off the mods left and right.
