I guess Pokopia and REquiem will remain the highest rated games of 2026 until the end of the year

Well, that was such a total bust. After all the hype behind it, Crimson Desert ended up being a just alright game. It seemed the ultimate Open Game from the past weeks' trailers, I honestly didn't expect such a low score. Guess overhyping things doesn't really pay off.

After this, I suppose Pokopia and REquiem will remain the best games of the year for quite a while, as there's not really much competition for the next months.... but we all know what will outclass both of them with no problems at the end of the year. And frankly, I kinda fear what that game could cause to gaming as whole. I think you all know what I'm talking about.

No it won't. Someone forgot about GTA6. Do I care about it? (GTA6) No. I don't. At all. In the slightest.

Also Pokopia isn't winning GOTY just saying

Also it's only March. It's too damn early for this.

Someone didn't read my message completely... yeah, I fully know about GTA VI: THAT was the game that will outclass them later this year I was talking about. And honestly it's just the tip of the iceberg.... I'm honestly really afraid of what that game will cause to gaming as whole, both to the industry AND the community...

There are much greater threats to gaming in general than that, such as the ever-increasing pushing of AI. Looking at you, Nvidia.

THAT'S exactly why I'm afraid of what that game will cause. Things are not exactly bright in gaming right now for multiple reasons, but when that game comes out, summed to those already present problems, it will cause a huge mess.

And for the record: when GTA V released things weren't that better, 2014 and 2015 were pretty lacking of memorable games because that game was going viral. Only Nintendo's ones were still being released... and we all know how THAT ended for the consoles they had in that period... aside those, the only memorable games released in the two years after GTA V was release were Bloodborne and The Witcher 3...

That is a...bold statement, considering 2014-15 had such games as Dark Soul 2, Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014's GOTY), Destiny, Undertale (probably the most notable here), and Fallout 4. Undertale alone was one of the most noteworthy games of the 2010s and gave a massive boost to the indie dev scene.

Ah yeah, I forgot about Undertale, but that was an indie so I don't think it was really scared about GTA V... given that it was release pretty much two full years after that one. But about the rest... you mentioned some of the most disappointing games in history. Dark Souls fans HATE Dark Souls 2; Fallout 4 is not fondly remembeered by its fans; Destiny was one of the biggest fails from Bungie, maybe even worse than the recent Marathon; and Dragon Age Inquisition was the most undeserving winner of a GOTY ever. Everything to not award Nintendo games...

Hey, you said memorable, not good. But yes, Destiny certainly had a rocky start lol. It did come back from the edge and become good later though. If only they could do the same with the sequel instead of see-saw-ing back and forth. And I for one adore both DAI and Fallout 4, DAI definitely deserved its win, especially compared to the other GOTY nominees that year.

The one I have to hardcore disagree with is Dark Souls 2. I am a Souls fan who has 100%'d every single game and played through them all more times than I can count, both PvE and PvP, and Dark Souls 2 is my favourite game of the entire franchise, including the not-actually-Souls ones like Bloodborne or Elden Ring.

Gonn be real: you're like... the very first person I meet who adored those games...

FWIW.... The TGA cut-off point is supposed to be October (for games that can be nominated I mean). GTA6 isn't supposed to be released until November.

However I wouldn't exactly be surprised if they announce, all of a sudden, that they have decided to extend the cut-off point to November or just make an exception for GTA6 overall.

Just pointing this out.

However I still feel like it's way too damn early to be discussing this.
