I don't know if this belongs here, or not, but yeah. Anyway...

I don't get it. Why IS Lavender Town so scary?

I listened to this, and I liked it. That isn't scary at all. Want to know why it's scary?

PEOPLE MAKE IT SCARY.

Yeah. Then they draw all these pictures about it and reverse it and I get all creeped out...

I accually was a time in my life where I didn't get scared when I heard the Unown sounds in Heartgold/Soulsilver, the Drought Music in Emerald, AND the LAVENDER TOWN music in Firered and Leafgreen.

Look. Someone please awnser. I completely don't get it. This ain't no Devil's music. Like not even close.

Re: I just don't get it...

It is creepy.
The theme song of the town is, at least. ;)

Re: I just don't get it...

Since when being awesome nulls being creepy?
Can't the music be both?

I think it is creepy and awesome. I love it =D

Re: I just don't get it...

According to Creepypasta everything is evil and causes little kids to commit suicide.

I can safely say Lavender Town frightened me long before I discovered all the stuff about it on the internet. There's something creepy about the monochrome visuals and dated sound quality of the Game Boy, it was a big shock to discover that Pokemon could die, and its overall gloomy atmosphere is a total contrast to the happy and friendly feel to the rest of the game. The freaky and chaotic town music is just the icing on the cake.

Of course, I was only 11 when I first played the game, maybe that's why I and many others have a fear of the area which remains to this day.

Re: I just don't get it...

Lavender Town wasn't supposed to be creepy besides for the haunted ghosts thing. And even then, that's just because they're ghosts, it's a halloween-esque sort of creepy at best. Absolutely not out of place.

It's supposed to be a peaceful resting grounds. People just overhyped it because of the stupider sort of creepypasta. (Namely suicides and Buried Alive)

If you want something actually ominous and creepy in that game, the burned Cinnabar mansion IS meant to be something like that.

lol
A song which causes little kids to kill themselves. That would be so cool.

And I don't think the song is creepy because of a creepypasta. I don't even know about this creepypasta you are talking about D:

Re: I just don't get it...

Creepypasta is a website that tells "creepy" stories. From what I've heard, as I've never gone on it, they are mostly about things causing little kids to commit suicide.

Yep, I know that. Thank you.
I just have no knowledge about this creepy pasta towards Lavender Town.

Re: I just don't get it...

That little girl makes it creepy. "Do you believe in ghosts? No. Hm, I wonder what that white hand on your shoulder is then?" @_@

I'll admit, I am a little more creeped out by the Pokemon Mansion's music. But if anything, both music doesn't bother me in the slightest. I guess the whole idea of ghost Pokemon haunting an otherwise peaceful resting ground while possessing spirit mediums, and while Team Rocket inhabits it shortly after killing a Cubone's mother, does start to make things more 'creepier' than what they're really meant to be.

If anything, the fact that many trainers carry whips with them, and that Cubone wears the skull of its deceased mother (according to Pokedex entry) is more disturbing than anything else I've encountered in the Generation I games, or in the Pokemon games in general. That said, I do believe that Generation I does have a slightly more darker tone than some of the other gens.

I didn't find Lavender Town's theme scary (it does sound freaky when reversed). The ghosts looked kinda funny. It's just no other town in Kanto had a burial site for Pokemon. And then there's Marowak murder.

Why did they make the song so long, like 6 minutes, when you're never in the town that long? 6 minutes is a lot for an old Game Boy song.

well, it sounds more positive and happier in gold/heartgold. Apart from that, its just the stupid urban legend about it causing suicides and all that bs.

Ok, I'm gonna answer this in the most efficient way.

1) Creepypastas are NOT websites. They are a form of copypasta, which if you don't know is basically like passed around stories and stuff like that. Creepypastas usually focus on disturbing stuff, they're basically supposed to mess with your mind. It may also be worth mentioning if you couldn't figure out yourself, creepypastas are 99% of the time fictional. They do not cause kids to commit suicide. They are stories made to fuck with your head.

2) Lavender Town isn't scary, there was a creepypasta written about the ORIGINAL music from Red, Blue, and Yellow for Lavender Town saying that it caused headaches and bleeding and nausea, etc. This is why Lavender Town is considered by some to be scary.

3) Did you listen to the FR/LG version or the actual R/B/Y version the creepypasta is talking about? Because if you didn't, then of course it won't be scary. They sissied it up in FR/LG. The music is also reversed by some guy who claims that it has a subliminal message. It's called Missing Frequencies. In reality, the song simply sounded like it did because of the GameBoy's crappy monochrome speakers and stuff like that. The music was like what, 8-Bit? That's why it sounded the way it did.

So please, get your facts right before posting about something. Jesus Christ

I personally am not afraid of Lavender Town, it's not even the town that is the central focus of being scared, it's the background music itself from R/B/Y.

It scares me because the music is like the beating of a person's heart as they run in terror, mixed with the sound of a door on rusty hinges opening by itself, the sound of an insect crawling across your skin as well as the sound one hears in their soul when death has touched everyone around them and is now approaching them. That is why it scares me.

That is why I turned off the music when I enter there. That is why I never entered Lavender Town when I play the game at night. Not because of some stupid rumor.

Because that place is death. The place where the cold blue colour of a corpse's skin mixes with the brutal red colour of blood. Where spirits wants you to leave. Leave now. Or else... They. Will. Take. You.

That and I am very easily scared. ^_^'

I find the music soothing. I honestly don't get what everyone sees as scary in it. But at least it's lead to several great creepypastas.
