Ok, as a side note, if I'm not supposed to start a new thread on this topic, my apologies. Just tell me politely so that I will make the same mistake twice. Thanks.

YES!!!! I thought of a new elemental type. I'm not hardcore or anthing, but this idea just flashed through my mind.

New elemental type: Light

Light-type attacks:
Are super effective against: Dark, Fighting, Ghost
Are not very effective against: Light, Psychic, Steel, Grass
Have no effect against: None

Light-type Pokemon:
Resist: Ghost, Fighting, Fire, Electric, Light
Weak to: Dark, Psychic, Grass
Have immunity to: None

Notice that both Dark and Light are weak against each other, because light can engulf darkness, and vice-versa.

So whaddya think, is it feasible or WHAT??!!

Hmm, I thought Dark was created specifically to counter Psychic, which was overpowered in Generation I. But since Dark is weak to Fighting, does it really need another counter? It is an interesting idea though...

Well i thought of this, partially to counter the Ghost/Dark combination. If you noticed, "Light" attacks deal 4x to Sableye and Spiritomb. Also, I felt that Dark types only have ONE weakness, so there should be one more.

You what?

And, no you weren't. This isn't even the right forum for it. There've been billions of threads on this topic, and Blackjack wan't complimenting you btw.

Yeah, but you know and even better counter? Spiritomb and sableye have horrible stats!!!

lol... the types are already balanced enough as it is. pokemon only made the new types in gold/silver to balance out the overpowered types in gen 1.
like zoey said...

Dark doesn't have 1 weakness, it has 2, Fighting and Bug

....Um, what BJ said. People have been screaming for a Light type since 2000, 1999 at the very latest. This isn't new. Even the Light and Dark types being weak against each other isn't new; I've rolled my eyes at it before.

*cough* This is also the wrong section for this type of thing. *lulz, pun*

Oh wow, when you made a big comotion about thinking up a new type I thought it would actually be something better than the overrated "Ligt Type".

I'm guessing you haven't been in the pokemon world that long have you?

Notice that both Dark and Light are weak against each other, because light can engulf darkness, and vice-versa.

Darkness cannot engulf light. Light is a form of energy, and Darkness is the absence of light. You cannot engulf something when that thing only exists because the other does not.

It is like heat and cold. Heat is a form of energy, and cold is the absence of that heat. When you feel cold, it is not because cold is entering your body, it is because heat is leaving it. When a room becomes dark, it is not because darkness enters it, it is because light is absent. When a room is bright, it is because light enters the room.

This is perhaps even more unoriginal that previously thought. Remember those old pokemon cards that were the 'light' type?

It's not a splendid picture (took this one off the internet instead of spending the time to take a picture of the one in my ancient collection from when I was a kid), but that word in front of 'Azumarill' is 'Light'

I remember them, and they weren't Light type, they were different paths a Pokemon could choose, but I ams sure this is that is what would have originally spawned the lust for the light type.

Light = Psychic pretty much. :/

Not really, when you think about it, Psychic cannot touch Dark types, and like I previously mentioned, Darkness is the absence of light, therefore light should be able to enter it pretty easily.

Besides, Dark was called "evil" in japanese if I recall, so I doubt the original; name would be called light.

When I saw the word "NEW" written in big letters in the name of the topic, I was hoping for something original.

You and every other "new type" fan.
What's wrong with Amuro Ray and Camille Bidan?

The entire point of spiritomb and sableye is that they have bad stats, but great types.
