Alright. So I'm planning a fic at the moment, and I've written a couple of rough chapters. But I have absolutely no clue as to what I should name it. Basically, it's set in Johto, some amount of time in the past. Prof. Oak comes to the High school in Cherrygrove, and holds a competition, testing high school students in their Pokemon knowledge. The two winners receive a starter Pokemon, a Pokedex, and a Trainer License. Then some stuff happens, and then if I go any further I'll spoil the story. So, any ideas?

Hey Super Glitch(previously known as Azumarill) I'm sorry but you didn't provide your post with anything that can be used to name it. I know you don't want to ruin your story and share it early with everybody, but if you need help naming your fic, it might have to do with who your main character is or what the story is about. Maybe something to do a virtue or goal the main character treasures? You are traveling through Johto? It could have Johto somewhere in the name. These are all based on what I know. Just trying to help.

Ok... the main characters name is Edison, and he grows up to become...
Mr. Pokemon.
And his rival is named Jesse, and grows up to be...
Prof. Elm.
His goal is to make his father proud of him, who had always ctitisized him for being weak.
EDIT: 100th post!

Can I first say: Aaaaawwwwwwwwwwwww, those protagonist choices seriously made me smile.

Anyway, it's really very hard for someone else to name a story for you, because they might get a different idea than you do (and frankly, their idea might be really bad). As an example, for some reason I'm tempted to name this fic "Here's to Us", but of course that makes no sense whatsoever. So yes, it's really bad. Only you know the true stigma attached to your story, and if you just keep trucking through, then you'll find an idea eventually - personally, I found the name for my trainerfic from a poem excerpt in a Boxcar Children-esque kids' book, and my other fic's name came from some kid flipping through an arcane dictionary in a different book. And I found the name for the second one before I even knew what that story would be about - I read the word, remembered its definition, then looked at my story later and thought, "Hey, this word could totally work here!"

So yeah, names could come from any random place. It's just books for me because I am reading literally 24/7, but it could be pretty much anything. Sit on the story and develop it further until you come up with a name on your own; then you'll have both a good name and a more developed storyline.

I'd call it: Rise of Mr. Pokemon.... No, that doesn't sound right..... Play around with a quick idea, and see what you get.
