I figured out how to get unlimited Mews from My Pokemon Ranch! It was simple! Just follow my easy instructions, and you can have a Mew-a-thon!

First, in order to get the 999 Pokemon, you are going to need a LOT of Balls. Repeat Balls, Quick Balls, and Dusk Balls (at night) all work. Stock up, and head on over to the first route in the game and keep catching Bidoof and Starly. Don't worry, they will never break out, the Balls have a 100% rate on them. I calculated it, and they have never broken out for me.

Obviously, this will take a while. You might be like, "No way! That'll take forever!" But trust me, if you are watching TV, or talking to your friend, or watching your friend play Boom Blox on the TV, it will go by rather quickly. Here's a tip: don't look at how many Balls you have left. It will make things seem like they are going very slowly.

Also, it is reccomended that you spread the Pokemon out over 2 games or more, since one Diamond or Pearl can only hold 540 Pokemon. I figured that out the hard way, and had to catch another 459 Pokemon >:(. Once you get enough, mass deposit them and collect your Mew :)

When you have your precious cat, withdraw all the Pokemon back to your game/games. Then, go to the Wii main menu. Click on the Wii icon in the lower-left, go to Data Management>Games>Wii (all of the choices on the left) and delete the save data for My Pokemon Ranch. Make SURE you have taken all of your Pokemon back out, and make SURE you are deleting the save data and not the actual channel. So, delete the data, and start a new game.

And there you go! Now just deposit the Pokemon again, and you can get a Mew all over again! You can rinse and repeat as much as you want. Mews are very useful for trades, or just for showing off. Thank yous are appreciated, and I will trade some Mews once I get some. Gimme like a week. Happy Mew hunting!

I think I'd rather spend a few bucks and get an AR rather than go through such a long drawn out process, especially since you have to wait for the ranch to expand.

True it takes long, but I see the point, as you aren't cheating, and you can get hundreds of legit Mews if you see it fit. Sure the GTS can help, but a lot of the time, they go fast, or are asking for like... level 9 Dialgas or something.

It truely is genius, I mean rather than doing something fun or actually playing the game, we get a Mew in like over a week!

I mean I'm pretty sure in the time it takes to do that, you could either:

-Breed Pokemon for good IVs
-EV train a Pokemon
-Chain for shinies

All of these are good for trade purposes aswell.

Well, you don't actually have to wait. You can change the calendar date in the Wii settings, and the game thinks it's the next day. Therefore, you can get several per day, once you get all the Bidoofs/Starleys. And for those who said "buy AR" or "use GTS", this is to make sure you get a LEGIT Mew. AR=obviously fake, GTS=too much risk.

Well, I'd hardly call it genious, but it is one of the better ways of obtaining multiple Mews, (if you need lots of Mews for some reason). I don't agree about it taking particully long. Agreed, catching 999 Pokemon is hard, but you would have to do that anyway to get the Mew. You can then just reuse these Pokemon, (provided you have 2 D/P game carts) Secondly, whilst it does take a number of days for the Ranch to reach maxium size, you only have to actually go on it for literally 5 mins each day, just to deposit the Pokemon, so it actually takes very little time, it's just spread over a long time. Although, I wouldn't personally really call this a 'legit' way of getting Mew, certainly no more legit than clonning.

This is obviously legit and I cannot think that Nintendo didn't think of this when Ranch came out to be frank. So I wouldn't really say that you outsmarted the designers or anything of the sort. Sorry to rain on your parade and piss in the cheerios.

I thought there was a limit as to how many pokemon you could deposit at the beginning of the game? like 20 or so then the next day more?

Like I said, if you change the date on the Wii, the day will change in the game, so you don't have to wait for Ranch expansions.

So you can either do this and take about an hour (or more) changing the time on the Wii and depositing Pokémon over two games (which most people don't have anyway)... or you can just get one Mew, buy an AR, and clone it (Since AR cloning simply copies the data instead of creating it, cloned Pokémon come up as legit in hack checks).

Most trivial "guide" ever. Sorry but you're not outsmarting or tricking anybody.

I wouldn't call this "outsmarted". It's so obvious...
This was about the first thing I tried after I downloaded the game.

Well it's valid but the title is quite misleading because the idea or the method are definitely nothing new. I would support a move to the HoS but I can understand if the staff do not see it that way.

Just a small update to this. I just tried this, it does still work, you can still get mew and you can still farm mew (and yes you can still buy Pokemon Ranch from the Wii store and yes you can do it with a Wii U, its $10). Also when you have to turn the clock forward, on a Wii U, you will have to go back to the Wii U menu and go to settings and do it from there. To transfer 1000 and transfer back to your games will take an hour or less.
Downside is that you cannot trade the mew over GTS to other players because its considered an event pokemon (just like many others like gene.)

but you can trade to players in person or online that you know. So you might be able to find a trading pokemon forum and trade the mews off.

Edit: Just for the record, you will need diamond and pearl (or both of each) to farm mew, and the best way I found to get the 1000 was to go to
Jubillife city, ride bike south into the big patch of grass there on the right, and just throw Nest balls, its 100% catch rate on them (so its like throwing a masterball), and just
transfer all the Bidoofs, etc over. It takes 32 seconds from entering battle to exit battle upon catching one, so do the math and you'll figure out how long it would take to get 1000.
I suggest watching TV or Netflix to pass the time.

Deleting your save file is basically the same way you can get multiple legendaries out of Pokemon Dream Radar (or pretty much every other Pokemon game). Yes it is an exploit, but it is not considered cheating and it involves a significant investment of time to actually do it.
