Hey, people. I posted in here once upon a time for a while, but then after I started working full-time and my life started becoming even more insane than usual I stopped posting again... er, anyway, I'm back now, at least for a while. ^.^;

The picture's of Umbreon--not one of my own personal favorites but I know a lot of other people love it. It was done in Photoshop, and I know the background is dark and doesn't offer much contrast, but that was intentional to try and show off Umbreon's rings better. Anyway though, I hope you guys like it... comments and criticisms and all that good stuff are most welcome, of course.

EDIT: Oh yes, and if your browser has the option, you might need to click the little "Expand to regular size" popup button... I know I need to do that in my window, otherwise the lines look all crinkly and stuff...

Nifty! I love the outlines, the eyes and Umbreon's pose. The highlights on its body serve as a good contrast to the dark background. I can't really find anything wrong with this pic. Good work, GeneralStar! And welcome back to the boards! ^_^

First of all, WELCOME BACK GIRLFRIEND, UHUHUHUH. *hugs*

Um, nice picture..

I like how it has a cats mischievous look and walk. Those eyes are the best. Besides, it's my fav. Can't hate it either way. ;D

Aw, I love it! Excellent shading! Usually outlines bother me, but this is an exception because it sort of just brings out the picture better. And I like how you rounded Umbreon's shape a bit more to give a chibi effect. You obeyed the rule of thirds by not putting it in the center, and you did very good on the lighting structure, even with the yellow parts of Umbreon's body.

I can't think of much critisism for this artwork, I really like it how it is. The only way I could see full improvement is if you maybe made Umbreon's shadow more dense, especially arouond the paws? I don't know, just a suggestion ^-^"

Nice lines, nice shading, nice pose, glad you have something like a background. Nice composition. Now I'm looking for the constructive criticism to show itself to me but besides the fact that it would be nice to see an actual shadow... somewhere around the Umbreon... and an obvious light source (I can't find which direction it is coming from!), it's good.

Yeah, there were actually supposed to be two light sources, coming from two different directions (at least, I suppose now that I actually think about it. I don't plan such things when I draw or come up with an idea for a picture, I just... draw o_o). I guess somewhere in the back of my mind I was envisioning this Umbreon in a dark alleyway at nightime or something... I'm not even really sure.

*smacks forehead* Ya know, I actually did think about the shadow thing at one point after originally making this thing, and I remember going back into Photoshop and adding another layer for a cast shadow under/behind Umbreon... I guess I just forgot to either save the revision as a .JPG, or else I did and then forgot to re-upload said revision to my FTP... :sweat: It does really need something there. Maybe later I can check through my files and see if I still have the copy where I added the shadow, or else just do it all over again...

Well, anyhow, I appreciate the feedback. :-) Thanks, everyone. *bows*

Oh yeah, and also... a quick question. Did I ever end up posting that CG pic of Gloom standing in the fog before I disappeared the last time, or not? Because I *do* remember posting that one of my Marshtomp Newman... I think that was the last...

I like the picture a lot. It is just a little dark. Maybe it is my computer but I think you should lighten the background a little to add more white or grey of some sort. Other then that it is a great picture!:-D

Well, there *is* a bit of grey in there... if you don't really see it than likely some of it is your moniter settings. Can you see the outline at all? (On my comp I can see the outline over even the darkest parts of the background, though just barely) I did want the picture dark, but not so dark that people can't see it correctly. o_O

And, alright; since you asked for it I'll post the Gloom. Here ya go. :cool:

That one there was my second attempt at a CG with a background, after the Marshtomp.

Two words: Beautiful colors! ^_^ I love the soft background. I think Gloom's left foot is somehow out of proportion. Oh well, maybe that's just me. ^^; It would have been a nice idea to make Gloom's drool a little bit transparent, but overall it is a great picture! Again, I love your outline work. =D

*forehead bonks on keyboard again* More transparent drool-nectar... now why didn't I think of that?? I guess I was remembering the thick nectar that my friend and I used to suck out of these flowers when I was a kid (I can't remember what kind they were for the life of me--not honeysuckles but something else). All I remember is that once we had way too many of them and I was horribly sick the whole rest of the day. Ugh, such a horrible memory... :embarass:

Anyway though, back on topic. Thanks for the feedback; thick lines kinda are a trademark of mine, and even when I work in traditional mediums (not something I've done in a long time now, since I've been without a scanner for what feels like frikkin' forever). The drool thing is a really good suggestion too... maybe I'll look into changing that, or else just keep it in mind for future reference.

Thanks again. :-)

*Gasps for breath* The Umby is absolutely adorable. ^_^

However, siding with mos' everyone else, it is a tad too dark. But the image of the Umby well makes up for it. I like how he has almost a puppy/kitty -ish look to him. Nice job.

Keep up the arts.

Wow. That's some lovely CG, especially on the Gloom. I even like your thick outlines, and I usually don't. Too cartoony. O_o

I didn't really notice the light source deal on the Umbreon, though.. I thought it was more interesting that it was a dark pokémon with a dark background. Emphasized the rings. ^^;

The bold outlines and soft shading make for such a pleasant quality. I love how you do that. By the way, that Gloom looks quite gloomy. Pardon the pun but it is true. I like it.

:-D :-D :-D WOWOWOW!!!

That is a very cool umberon! I like that better than some of your older cg pics!!
