i've heard a lot of people saying that Sega has been going downhill since they made Sonic games 3D,but i don't think so.do you think it's going downhill,or is it just fine?

The complaints against Sonic are the same with each game. Why doesn't Sega just FIX them already? I'm sure Sonic could have a successful game if they just make sure it fixes everything that sucks. Camera and voice acting mostly...controls?

At this point, Sonic the way they've reinvented him works for all the kids who are new to Sonic. I'm not sure if they even remember what made the Genesis games good anymore, and certainly the voice of fans as old as I am are not enough to sway them. We are the minority now, the younger fans far outnumber us. This is precisely why I don't bother with Sonic anymore. I have lost faith in what they can do.

That being said, I don't think it's going downhill, just that it's being targeted at another generation.

No, it is sega going downhill... but it's not since sonic went 3D. Some people want to say that, and some Nintendo fanboys want to instigate that idea, but it really is sega post sammy merger.

What was the last truely great game made by sega, really? It probably was before the merger too! If only SEGA was in control instead of Sammy we wouldn't get this crap! Sure the arcade scene is still great with them, games like Initial D, their Shooters, Sangokushi, and Mushiking are still cool and better than ever, but a lot of other series have suffered.

Sonic is one serious case, I loved Sonic Adventure! (SA2 was cool too, but SA1 was the best of the 3d sonics in my book) This Sonic the Hedgehog 360 and Shadow the Hedgehog are twin messes though... and even Sonic and the Secret of the rings, a good game, is made worse because they tried to falsly inflate the playtime with the missions and level-ups.

Then we Virtual On-Marz that sucked.. I never played Force, but if it is like Marz then it is the first SEGA arcade game that I can remember sucking! Even PSU is a little underwhelming because it doesn't live up to PSO in features, with many cool ones only half-heartedly lived out.

Ah! This just sucks so much! Sega is such a good company with such great properties, they could really blow other companies away! They were the original innovators (people who should claim most innovative as they experimented with more wide ideas than Nintendo), but they just lacked Nintendo's balance I guess.

Having the Guilty Gear property is cool, but I wish Nintendo had picked them up instead. They would have at least kept the teams together (because quality wasn't SEGA's problem) It's just so annoying! (also this is more of a games topic...)

Voice acting, camera, glitches, Shadow should have stayed dead...

...there's a lot of problems with the new Sonic games, but they're still good by my standards.

i for one don't find anything wrong with the sonic games.i don't know why everyone is looking and listening so carefully in the new sonic games for dumb and small flaws.and no one should say that the classic sonic games where better than they are now, because it's the same thing, running and destroying enemies in the way.

It's pretty much a dead publisher, not even trying to make good games anymore. They just try to pump out a new Sonic game for all the kiddies once a year for Christmas and don't even try to make it good anymore. Sonic 360 made this fairly obvious. They're not appealing to all ages like a good game should. They just want to sell a shitty platformer to kiddies who don't know any better.

oh,please!just read what i said in my last reply, and plus,i find nothing wrong with the new sonic game, like i just said it's no different from those classic sonic games that you all like so much.

Besides the camera, voice acting, and glitches, there still is a little something missing from the latest Sonic games. I can't actually put my finger on if it is the collision detection or the level and boss design, but it feels uninspired.

Sonic's suppose to be a flagship mascot, meaning it's main games should rank among the best of all games. Sammy just seems to not feel that way. I don't have anything against the new characters (infact I like them) but it just doesn't feel as good as others... I'd just rather pay $50 for another port of Sonic Adventure 1 or 2 than pay $50 to get the 360 sonic or Shadow the Hedgehog.

i just have the opposite opinion, and don't worry,i'm sure they'll start making sonic games that impress you older people soon enough,i'm a true sonic fan,i like sonic for him,not for slight tiny problems in his games.

For me, Sega was never interesting.
I still don´t get what is so great about the old, classic sonic games. The new ones suffer from bad programming, but the old ones felt so...uninspired or...lacking, at least for me. I guess Sonic was never my kind of game.

The Phantasy Star series was something new, when it went 3D, but that´s it.

What I really like is Panzer Dragoon, but I don´t think there will be a new one soon.

has anyone ever even heard of those games?

but what about Sonic as a character, who thinks Sonic is becoming unpopular as a character?and by the way Sega's idea was to make Sonic's video games, shows, and Sonic himself for kids.i'm probably not right, but i think the reason teens, and adults lose interest in Sonic is because it was only meant for kids.

You're just restating the argument that Sceptile726 made before. ;) Sonic has always been targeted at kids. But a lot of kids' icons don't get less popular (at least not very much) over time. Some of them remain in the hearts of the people who grew up with them.

Sonic seems to have a lot of things working against him, but frankly, I think the deciding factor is money. Sega isn't as successful as say, Nintendo is. They can't afford to throw money at a bunch of new concepts at once and test the market to find the best one. I used to love my Sonic games for the Genesis and the Game Gear. But that era has passed, and the new games just don't appeal to me for some reason. They seem kind of lackluster and overly dramatic to me. Back when Sonic wasn't all dragonball z about his adventures, the games seemed more challenging and fun to me. But the same thing has happened to a lot of games throughout the years. Even Mario is looking more and more outlandish to me, lol. But not much.

I'll always have a special place in my heart for Sonic, but when I look at him now, I see the icon of a dying branch of video gaming history. :/

i just don't agree,i like his games just fine, and plus i hate Nintendo games a lot more, even kids i know that are 7 years old hate Mario and the rest.in my opinion,Nintendo games are...well...retarded.but that's just my opinion.

Yakuza (http://www.sega.com/gamesite/yakuza), which I consider to be a Japanese style Godfather game, wasn't too bad. I had rented it at my local Blockbuster. I can't find copies for sale at any of my local stores, though. I have the GameCube ports of the Dreamcast Sonic games and they were good. I have the PS2 version of Shadow the Hedgehog and the GameCube version of Sonic Heroes and those games did stink. I had played the XBOX 360 version of Sonic the Hedgehog at a friend's house and it stunk. Sega needs to stick to porting arcade games to the Wii.

I don't think there is anything that can be said to bring me into the new Sonic. I will always like the Genesis games. To make a long story short, I tried the newer games, and they didn't feel the same to me. If you like it, fine, but let me have my opinion. I've made my decision and I'm sticking to it.
