Seeing as it has both of their types, canine characteristics and i guess that's all the evidence, but do you guys have any other cross-breeds?
 
I think that Cubone is just a mutated Khangaskhan baby...
And I do indeed think that Houndour is Poochyena and Growlithe!
 
What about a shinx being a electrike and skitty cross?

I agree also with Growlithe+Poochyena
 
How could Houndour be a cross breed of a Pokemon that didn't exist yet?

Anyway, I think that Dustox is a Butterfree/Grimer mix.
 
Neat theory, but it contradicts the game mechanics. Poochyena and Growlithe can breed (they're both in the Ground Egg Group), and the off-spring is of course either a Poochyena or Growlithe, not a Houndour.

Of course, if you're not considering game mechanics or anything, it stands to reason that those Pokemon are somehow "related."
 
i like the shinxs thing(and i like shinx a whole lot more than electrike) but what about.....(i'm thinking).......this is kinda off topic but not really. have you noticed how kabuto scyther and scizor look alike? im thinking kabuto is ancent scyther(the past),scyther is the present,and scizoris the future??

and i was reading on bulbapedia about the three beasts. one theory is that the pokemon ho-oh ressurected in the brass tower were orriginally a flareeon,jolteon,and vaporeon(entei,raiku,and suicune respectively). this could be like the cross breed for the beasts were the eveelutins and zombie power.lol or the evelutions and ho-oh which could make sense. ho-oh used his power to resurect them so they were cross-bred sorta. and entei's pokedex entree says a new one is born when a volcano errupts,so ho-oh helped create three species. ho-oh would be the second part of the cross breed(the eveelutions are the first)

How about nidoking being a combination of rhydon and muk
 
This should be moved to Pokemon World as this discussion would be more fitting there than games, for obvious reasons.
 
Tangela could be thought of as the future evolution of Lileep (tentacles are now used for cover, feet developed). Toxicroak could as be a mutant Poliwag that got into some pollution lolXD
Ryhorn,Rydon, Aron and it's evolutions could be the descendents (that branched) of Sheildon (Softened features due to lack of predators maybe)

if you weren't retarded you would know that gen I and gen III are contempory and therefore poochyena and growlithe lived at the same time. since houndour is native to Kanto maybe someone brought a poochyena to kanto and bred it with the native species growlithe and kaBOOM houndour as for your thing i guess it works, doesn't make as much sense but 'twill suffice.

Yeah same, I always thought there was some kind of link between those three.

Also, supposing real-world evolution (not like a Pikachu evolving into a Raichu, I mean like how humans came from apes and stuff) happened at some point in the Pokéworld, it would make sense too assume some Pokémon would have come from a certain species, meaning Houndour, Growlithe and Poochyena could have all originated from one canine-like Pokémon in the Prehistoric times in Pokémon. This theory could also work for Rhyhorn and Aron, or Pikachu and Pachirisu, and maybe Marill, and really any similar Pokémon I guess.
 
Wigglytuff... Shiny Buneary + spheal and overtime and more breeding like this, poof jigglypuff was born and then came wigglyuff
 
Camerupt+Magcargo=Torkoal IMO.

Remember those times, people thought Torkoal evolved from Camerupt.:p

Everyone has such great theories!
And now that I think about it, Arcanine, Houndoom, and Mightyena all have extremely similar characteristics!
Like they each are very intimidating and are pretty large!
 
Yeah Houndoom is soo great......except for the fact that he doesn't learn a fire type move besides ember until he's in the 40's and....wait I think that in Platinum he learns fire fang...also his defence is kind of cruddy.

Yeah, it needs a good round of both fire and dark moves. My good movepool idea (Based on current one by level up. I change some of the levels it can learn some moves):

Start - Ember, Thunder Fang, Howl, Leer, Smog
4 Howl
9 Smog
14 Roar
16 Bite
20 Will-o-Wisp
25 Beat Up
30 Fire Fang
37 Faint Attack
40 Torment
45 Embargo
49 Flamethrower
53 Crunch
57 Overheat
60 Dark Pulse
63 Nasty Plot
70 Nightmare
