Earlier I thought I'd be clever and put my Pikachu in daycare and get some easy EXP. Well, I was horrified when I saw that Pikachu had in fact been leveled up, but his new moves are Growl, Tail Whip, Thunder Wave, and Quick Attack.

Pikachu isn't going to get a new Electricity attack until level 26. Should I just release him and go catch a new Pikachu or stick with him and get through it? He's level 12. I just feel like right now with only one electric attack he's not much help (correct me if I'm wrong, though).

Seeing as youre past Misty already and Pikachu wont be any use in Surge or Erikas gyms, just stick it out. Once you beat Surge, you get Shock Wave, so just teach that to Pikachu.

A topic like this is better suited for the Video Games section (perhaps Simple Questions / Simple Answers Gens 1-5) or blogs. Seeing as it's already been answered, I'll just close this thread. If you want to continue discussion on this, please take it somewhere else.

P.S. I agree with Karpi. Teaching it Shock Wave will be useful until you can get Thunderbolt. I don't think there's any need to raise a new one up 7 extra levels.
