I think Snivy is the most stagnant pokemon on the cast

I don't think it gained a new move or changed its personality or really got any lasting development throughout all of BW. If Ash had caught snivy 2 eps ago or 90 I still feel like it would have been the same pokemon. Anyone else think this? And to think it gets more screentime than all of Ash's reserves combined.

It's no worse than Gamagaru, Yanappu, Maggyo, or Emonga in my opinion.

All of those combined being a big problem in itself.

That's because it's a one of the starter Pokemon. If it wasn't, I'll bet you Snivy would be just another overly evolved Palpitoad.

I think the real problem here isn't that Snivy is the most stagnant Pokémon, it's that BW Pokémon in general are the most stagnant Pokémon since Johto.

That's what happens when characters catch a lot of Pokemon. There's no time for them all to be developed.

This has been a problem with the show since day 1.

I think a bigger problem with this saga is that, while the large amount of captures does take take away screen time from other Pokemon, the division of screentime is awful. Oshawott, Dwebble and even Pignite don't need as much spotlight as they usually get.

If oshawott wasn't such a screen hogg, we could have maybe seen snivy develop more, it's sad because snivy was originally the most popular unova starter ash had.. then look what happened after they decided to turn oshawott into piplup.

As if. Yanappu has been in tons of fights and just used the same boring Bullet Seed/Solarbeam moves. I'd say all of them combined exceed Tsutarja's screentime and it doesn't really help that Emonga is usually out when Snivy is having interactions.

I think the huge number of Pokémon in the main cast is even more of a problem this time around because of how fast-paced the series is. Of course, if training with the Pokémon was a priority I'm sure the writers could make it work but plots like that don't seem to be as important anymore.

Thank you. This is why a character should only have so many Pokemon at a time (Arceus forbid they use roster rotation more often).

A lot of people didn't like that (for some reason). The fans pretty much bought it on themselves.

And I have a theory...

Snivy was released by her trainer at the behest of Team Plasma (like in the BW part of Pokemon Adventures). I'm probably wrong, but when she was first introduced it kinda felt like there was something up with her.

That's the worst part BW for me: they originally had big plans for it, then it all came crashing down in the worst way possible. (corporate meddling made the situation worse) :-(

Well yeah, it hasn't changed much but neither has Oshawott. It's still as naive and immature as ever, it hasn't even gotten that much stronger.

The same thing could be said about lots of Pokemon. Snivy is no exception.

Just because Ash has more than six Pokemon doesn't mean that they can't get proper development. I bet if this was Sinnoh, instead of those useless fillers inbetween the seventh and eighth gym, they would have had him training his reserves.
