I don't know about you, but I noticed(right now at this very moment) that there are gyms of every type in the whole Pokemon world(well, of what we know now) except Dark-type, excluding the Elite Four.

What do you think? I think there shold be a Dark-type gym leader in the next region, if they make it.

There should've been a Dark type gym ever since the type was first introduced.

Maybe they're afraid of fundamental groups going, "Ah, pokeyman's the spawn of the devil!" or some stupid crap. That or they don't know how to make a decent dark-type team :p

not exactly. Back in generation 2, notice that they were theming the gyms after the types that weren't featured in generation 1's gyms. With two generations and eight gyms altogether, that's 16, and there're 17 types. Obviously, one had to be left out, and I guess they figured it should be one of the new ones (though, they sorta make up for it by having the strongest E4 member use them). It is complete bullshit, however, that they still couldn't give the type its own gym after two more generations.

When R/S came out, I hoped that there would be a Dark-type gym, and I hoped the same when I heard about D/P.
When the next generation of games comes out, there needs to be a Dark-type gym...and it better be a good one. :[

We just need enough Dark-types to be in a region's Pokédex. Sinnoh had eight in five families, Gym Leaders usually have three or four Pokémon from different families.

Thankfully in Gen III and IV Dark and Steel have been expanded as much as they have been. Gen II's offering for both was literally two or three Pokémon apiece.

you know, a lack of Pokemon for a type means shit. It sure as hell didn't stop Dragon and Ghost from getting their own gyms in generation 2 (a generation that only added one Pokemon to those types... only in generation 3 did they both really start to see some expansion). Come to think of it, those same types had Elite 4 members based around them in generation 1 (in which each of those types had a mere three Pokemon.... and from a single family).

BTW, Steel and Dark both had a total of six Pokemon each when they debuted.... that was still more than dragon and ghost at the time. Hell, that was more than Ice got in generation 1, and it also managed to have an E4 member back then.

I've thought about this too. I mean, they could have Mightyena, Weavile, Sableye, Umbreon, Honchkrow, etc. There was certianly enough for even a low level gym in Hoenn. A few Poochyenas and a Sableye would've even been nice >.<

in g/s they should've made viridian city have dark type, instead of Blue's rainbow bergade.

they need a "bird type" gym. Probably unofficial, and probably on the cinnabar coast.

Maybe for some stupid reason like no one can control its wicked nature other then karen who was too strong to be a gym leader

I think it is because all of the evil bosses have a lot of dark types and they think you are sick of battling them. I want a steel type gym with some cooler pokemon this past one sucked!

In my fake region of Sinac, the seventh gym is Dark, even though the leader also uses a couple Ghost and Psychic Pokemon mainly because there's a second theme beyond type in which the gym has to use Pokemon that are kind of grudgeful of their trainer's. It makes sense, too, Dark being the 'evil' type and all.

Here's her roster (note, they're mainly fakes, but it should be easy to tell what they're based on by their names): Obseon, Caniclops, Skunanne, Skuntank, Destail, Oposeteer

Two things ( or if I choose to add more):

1) Dark-types are hard to come by, am I right? Really, especially when Gen. 3 FR/LG took out the day/night device that it REALLY took effort to just get 3 pokemon. Anyway, even though, by now, there are at least 20+ different Dark-types, I'm guessing since it's so hard to basically base off a team by that specific type, the writers thought it would be easier to let other types take the stage. For now.

2) I mostly think that since most type based teams for this type will usually use Murkrow/Honchkrow to avoid fighting and bug type moves. I'm just guessing they don't want to repeat part of Karen's team. But to be honest I guess they never thought of it. I do like this type, but I usually forget about them when's it's time to beat the Gym. Same thing might've happened to the writers. Who knows?

3) (I warned ya!) I think a Gym that specializes with Dark-types should be run by a girl that loves Gothic Lolita. Or tomboys. I could never see a boy to be a Dark-type GL. I guess it's because it would be like facing the evil heads all over again.

Hmmm...Maybe they could introduce Marley as the new Gym Leader?

Maybe because the point of gyms in the game, well my opinion anyway, is to have gyms that force you to have a balanced team. And dark has no weakness really, so it doesn't make sense. you know?

They have proven that they don't even need a whole team for it to be themed. They called Flint the Fire-Type E4 member, and he only had 2 of them. It really shouldn't be taking this long.
