So we obviously know that we have names for cities and towns. Here are some ideas that I have for English names:

Palmheart Town
Going with the tradition that we have with all the plant named towns, this could be a perfect name for a town. It is a seaside town with a port from Aquatine Port.

Coalstone Valley
Okay, we have cities and towns (and an island). What about valleys?? A valley can be perfect for some training at the beginning of a journey. The Prof. lives here.

Gripper City
The first city, as well as the first place encountered with a gym. The gym is not challenged however, until the evil team is separated, which is after the seventh gym. The townspeople praise Dark-types, which is why it is the first Dark-type gym. They have a zoo of Dark-type Pokemon (called the Blinding Zoo) that can be battled and caught from Lv. 48-Lv.64 after all of the gyms and the Elite Four are beaten. It is also home to the famous Gateway Tower, which is the tower that includes the switch that opens the doors all of the gyms in the region after a blackout involving the gym's doors. This is the first place where the evil group of the game will be battled. Hazel is the gym leader here.

Rouge Summit
A pit-stop deep within Mt. Rouge, the first mountain in the game, is Rouge Summit, a town where the most disaterous of weather conditions occur. Despite the name Rouge Summit, it had incredibly nice people. After beating the first seven gyms, the evil team will be blocking the Route 303 entrance to Gripper City. There is a cave called Soulclash Cave (only accessible after the first seven gyms) that leads to Soulclash Limits, where the evil team's headquarters are located. Here, Pokemon's bodies are being collected, as they are experimenting on what would happen if every Pokemon Soul is clashed together. A beam from the headquarter hits and strikes Rouge Summit, causing major damage to the city. Repairs are aiming to be done as soon as possible. In Rouge Summit, there are two Mt. Rouge cave entrances: North and South of Rouge Summit.

Burgundy City
The city with the first accessible gym, isn't really that big of a city. The gym leader, Skye, who specializes in Flying-types. Every Saturday and Sunday, the city holds the an event which involves Flying-types, similar to PokeRinger. This is a replacement for Pokemon Contests. It is also the first city to have two parts, meaning it has to Pokemon Centers/Marts: North Burgundy and South Burgundy. North Burgundy is the port of the city and is only available by ship from Aquatique Port, or by directly flying there. South Burgundy is your average city, with only the Gym, residential houses and Pokemon Center/Mart.

Sunnyset Town
Another coastal town, this place houses the second gym in the game, as well as the Pokemon Daycare in the game. It has a statue of the version's legendary Pokemon, and has history that date way back to the middle ages. Aquos is the gym leader here (he is water-type).

Calmax City
This coastal city is the largest city in the entire series, replacing Goldenrod. This is home of the Global Terminal, the TV/Radio Station, the Name Rater, the Department Store, and the Smooth Scent Flower Shop (It's the large city in the picture). Ironically enough, it does not have a gym...

Pseduo City
A city that honors Psudeo legendaries. Aside from that, every Friday it holds the Tauros Clash tournament in the Legend Coliseum. This is also home to famous Dragon Tamers. A move tutor who is obsessed with Dark-types (he's obviously from Gripper) lives here, under the name of Hunter. There are also other move tutors here too. This place holds the third accessible gym (Dragon-type) with Drakon as its leader.

Volkin Island
An island that houses the fourth gym, with Honcho as as its leader, who uses Rock and Fire-types (the first official dual-type gym!). There are several houses and gyms, bordering the volcano, but between the gym and the Pokemon Center is Volkin Path, a short path with houses around it as well, that leads into an extremely small cave called Volkin Tunnel. The cave itself leads into the volcano, called the Sea of Lava because it is one of the biggest volcanos you'll ever see. Here you'll battle the evil team again with a guy named Maggus. After everything is over he'll give you a Zorua egg. He also lives deep down near the volcano itself in an extremely tiny in-volcano town called Lavaflow.

Lavaflow
Wow, the first town with a single word in its name! It's a town inside Sea of Lava, where Maggus lives with his daughter, Maggie. There is a hot spring here called Lavaflow Spa, where you heal your Pokemon. There is also a Pokemon Center/Mart here. One of the most unique characteristics is that the houses and Pokemon Center/Mart are made of rock, so the exteriors of the houses appear as entrances to small caves. The way the Pokemon Center/Mart is identified is that there is a large Poke Ball sign hanging from the top-right of it. The interiors appear as caves too. Pretty unique town, huh?

Aquatine Port
This large port city is the second-largest city in the series, after Calmax. It is also the largest city to have a gym, this time with Nester as its leader, who uses Bug-types. Many Surskit gather here Monday-Friday, and Nester is always here to look at them. What's unique about the gym here is that's it's on a tiny island about 50 spaces from the mainland (also in Sootopolis). There is actually what can be called a "backyard in the front" (not to be confused with a front yard) where the leader can be found on weekdays, interacting with the Surskit. You still need to go around the gym's trainer maze to actually get to him, as he is surrounded by a gate. There is a port with a ship that leads to Palmheart Town, first, then to North Burgundy.

I'll show my ideas as time passes by. Why not post your ideas?

what abooouuut.... maple village...it could be like a village that is all underdeveloped, tecnologicaly speaking, and have like a village cheif who gives you an hm or turns out to be a gym leader or one of the elite four...the village would always be in the season of fall...hence the maple village name...

we could also have like a jungle part instead of a repetitive forest part...and INSIDE the jungle there could be the maple village...

Re: Ideas for Cities and Towns

I also think they need to add a bit more variety to their terrain. I have thought of a valley and Jungle before. Why not have the next region be near a tropical rainforest? Or maybe have more unique cities(Ex:Hoenn-Sootopolis[Volcano])? Or the whole region be Desert except the coast?

Re: Ideas for Cities and Towns

We've never had a desert city/town/village yet - Sandstream village
A town or something inside a cave/dungeon, dunno what that would be called

Re: Ideas for Cities and Towns

Rainbow city. Based off San Diego. weekly parades will happen.

Re: Ideas for Cities and Towns

Considering we don't even know which region it is, isn't this kind of one of those threads were you throw out a name for the hell of it?

Re: Ideas for Cities and Towns

Astral Edge!

A beautiful cliff-edge where night eternally lives, stars light your way, and a Legendary Pokémon resides in its blackened paradise...

...I gotta keep my imagination down...

Perhaps this topic would benefit if people suggested real-world cities and towns in Japan (since, most likely the game will take place in a region based off Japan) that they would like to see become the basis for towns in the game? Certainly a few interesting, more concrete ideas could come from that.

For example, the Iwate prefecture in Tohoku is named that because their is a legend that a devil was sealed to a rock near what is now the city of Morioka and its hand print was left on it. That would make an interesting in-game location since they could do something with that, perhaps make it the new location of Spiritomb or a brand-new Legendary?

YES, a devil pokemon would be PERFECT for these games!!

Now this is worth discussing, since it's fairly certain that the new region will be based on an area of Japan.

That above idea's pretty cool, I have to say. There's some other cool stuff in Tōhoku as well, specifically in Aomori prefecture to the north of Iwate:

  • Osore-zan, a volcanically active mountain that popular mythology holds to be the entrance to hell - the name literally translates to "Mt. Fear". There's a temple on it where a five-day festival is held every year, during which blind mediums are said to channel the dead. (An excellent place for a Ghost and/or Dark Gym town.)
  • Lake Towada, the largest caldera lake on Honshū. (Could be a cool outdoor area, or the home of a legendary.)
  • Two large bridges, the Hachinohe Ōhashi and the Aomori Bay Bridge. (We've already seen a bridge, and a city built partly into the sea.)
  • An underground/undersea train tunnel running to Hokkaidō, the Seikan Tunnel. (Hokkaidō is equivalent to Sinnoh, so we likely wouldn't see this implemented exactly as in the real world, but it could be scaled down and used within the region.)
  • The Sannai Maruyama site, where some ancient Jōmon ruins are located. (One of the most obvious places for ruins in this region.)

Re: Ideas for Cities and Towns

We should have a Pygongyang, a Beijing and a Hong Kong.
